Donovan Juzang — Illinois HoopStars — PG — 2023
Juzang got to work right away for Illinois HoopStars in the first game of the day. The point guard is an aggressive slasher that the opposing squad could not keep out of the lane. He was also extremely active on defense, as he got a couple of steals that led to offensive opportunities. Juzang led his team in scoring with 19 points in a signature win.
Kevin Anthony Kevin Anthony 6'9" | C Von Steuben | 2023 State IL — Illinois HoopStars — PF — 2023
Using his 6-foot-8 frame and long arms, Anthony made sure that nobody got easy layups when he was protecting the paint. He only managed to put up four points, but his impact was felt because he was such a great rebounder and shot-blocker. If he continues to round out his game, Anthony will really be a problem.
Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6'5" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI — Team Halliburton — SF — 2024
Man, McCottry was really impressive on Saturday. He started the game by dominating in the paint. Using his size and athletic ability, the small forward was able to knife into the paint and find creative ways to get buckets. After tallying a handful of layups, McCottry started to knock down some difficult jumpers. On both ends of the court, McCottry is the full package. It won’t be long until college programs are all over the Team Halliburton star.
Kayden Rodrick Kayden Rodrick 6'4" | CG Zumbrota-Mazeppa | 2023 State MN — Minnesota Lighting — SG — 2023
Rodrick plays with a little bit of an edge. He is a physical prospect that isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty on both sides of the ball. In a hard-fought win for Minnesota Lighting, the shooting guard was very good as a slasher. He was able to use quick moves to drive to the paint and the finish through contact. Expect big things from Rodrick in the upcoming high school season.
Kenyon Davis Kenyon Davis 6'0" | PG Port Washington | 2023 State WI — Chapman Basketball Academy — PG — 2023
Davis did a lot of good things on Saturday and raised his stock a significant amount. The point guard out of Port Washington is a speedy prospect that only plays at full speed. When he gets a full head of steam, there are not many defenders that will be able to successfully slow him down. In a win for Chapman Basketball Academy, Davis dropped an efficient 15 points.
Baraka Tarleton — MN Bounce — SF — 2023
Tarleton didn’t do a ton of scoring in MN Bounce’s win on Saturday, but he didn’t need to. The small forward made his presence felt in other areas, particularly in the paint. He was able to use his athletic ability to block a handful of shots and snag a bunch of rebounds. If Tarleton continues to improve, he has a bright future as a college basketball player.
Emmett Lawton Emmett Lawton 6'2" | SG Notre Dame Academy | 2023 State WI — Team 1848 — SG — 2023
When the summer ends, Lawton will no doubt be tabbed as one of the AAU season’s top stock risers. When he has the ball in his hands, Lawton plays with a lot of confidence. The shooting guard always seems to make the right decision, whether it be passing to an open teammate or getting a bucket on his own. Lawton is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on in the high school season.
