While this piece is shorter due to the lack of teams to watch, the talent is still real. Take a look below at the top players from Indiana last weekend.
Tasean Gates (2024) 94 Feet Elite 6-1 PF
Gates was listed as a PF in the media guide, but played more like a PG/2G in action against Mid Ohio Pumas-Sliemers. Whether you see him as a guard or PF, no doubt he’s a slashing player. Advances and distributes the basketball to his many athletic teammates. Utilized drive and kick to his teammates. Pesky defender on the ball.
Jaelyn Johnson (2024) 94 Feet Elite 6-4 PF
Johnson definitely stands out with his length which is impressive for a 15U player. Uses the length around the rim and had a nice touch around the rim. Has some areas to improve mainly in his toughness and defensive mechanics, but both are easily fixable as he grows out his frame and continues to improve footwork.
Payton Weemer (2022) Men of the Family 6-7 SF
Weemer really looks like a next level player from watching him against Grand Park Select. The 6-7 SF has great footwork and worked the block. Can be a multi-level scorer. Runs the floor and fills space in the half court. Shooting mechanics are good when he has to pullup from the perimeter. Versatile and can play multiple positions. Athleticism is a concern of mine but he’s a priority to D3s.
Bryce Williams Bryce Williams 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2022 State IN (2022) Men of the Family 6-2 PG
Williams is scrappy as hell and impressed with his intensity on both ends of the floor. Excellent passer on the dribble drive especially getting the ball to Weemer. Gets after it on the defensive end with his speed and athleticism. Impressed as he wanted it more than the Grand Park Select guards.
