Here are five players to watch as the business end of this event resumes.
Jack Cadin | 6’2″ SG | Gonzaga (DC) ’23
Cadin was a beneficiary of Gonzaga’s beautiful ball movement last night. He is a crafty lefty who thrives in transition. Cadin had a couple of nifty finishes at the rim, including one through contact. He also shot the gaps and stole a pass before going coast-to-coast.
Aidan Gallagher | 6’4″ PF | Bullis (MD) ’23
Gallagher was the unsung hero for Bullis in their quarterfinal win over Rock Creek. He is a low-maintenance player who is highly productive. Gallagher had multiple good finishes. He finished with his left hand. He finished through contact. Gallagher ran the floor hard. He gave second and third efforts on the offensive glass. He even blocked a shot. Bullis will need him to continue being vigilant as they prepare to match up with Gonzaga’s formidable front line this evening.
Carlos Kinard | 6’4″ SG | Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) ’22
Kinard got hot last night against Georgetown Prep. He started off by hitting a floater and a couple of jumpers. Then he began making an impact defensively, showing he cares about that end of the floor too. Kinard dove on the floor for a steal. And on one possession, he beat his opponent to the spot and took an on-ball charge.
Jaylin Payne | 6’7″ C | Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) ’22
Payne is a vertical rim protector who keeps his hands high. He understands verticality. There were a few possessions last night where he blocked multiple shots within a matter of seconds. Payne is patient with the ball. Hit a three from the top of the key last night after entering it into the post. He is also good at establishing low post position. Payne will also mix in some face-up skills. He can get downhill going left and finish left. He has good hands. He rebounds with two in traffic. Payne is active on the offensive glass and generally has a good motor. He is also a sneaky athlete who is a lob threat.
Tre Powell Tre Powell 6'2" | SG Frienship Collegiate | 2022 State MD | 6’2″ SG | DeMatha (MD) ’22
Powell is one of the more naturally gifted athletes you will find. He likes getting to his mid-range. DeMatha has a number of guys who can go off but don’t be surprised if Powell has a big night.
