Read below to see who these great guards are..
Alphabetically, the Elite Point Guards:
6’1 PG Alex Dvorak Alex Dvorak 6'1" | PG Dickinson | 2023 State ND Dickinson/ND Attack (2023)
He is a steady scorer that can create his own shot. Alex produced all year in the WDA with Dickinson and he did the same with ND Attack in AAU ball. Dvorak is an energetic guard with ankle-breaking moves and great quickness. He shoots and plays with great confidence. Alex can completely take over a game. His scoring will draw much attention this next year and it should lead to easy buckets for his teammates when this point guard finds the open man. Look for Dvorak to have the Midgets ready to fight for a spot in the top-tier of the WDA.
6’1 PG Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State ND West Fargo (2022)
A State Champion in 2021 who knows what it takes to win. This floor general knows how to run a team. Limke is a level-headed cool customer. Even when Brett is double-teamed he does not look stressed. It is never too big of a moment from Mr. Limke. He is an elite shooter from beyond the arc, especially off the bounce. He could very well be the best free-throw shooter in the state of North Dakota. Expect another epic year for this PG from West Fargo.
6’2 PG Dylan Marshall Dylan Marshall 6'0" | PG White River | 2022 State SD White River/SD Attack (2022)
First of all, he is a winner. Marshall can step up and make a play when his team needs it. He is a feisty player that is not afraid to get physical. He uses his handles, athletic ability, speed, and leverage to make plays happen on offense. Marshall can score with jumpers, floaters, and layups at the rack. He has great court awareness which makes diagnosing a defense easy for Dylan. Marshall has all the tangibles of a great point guard along with a great head on his shoulders.
6’3 PG Evan Gross Evan Gross 6'3" | SG Bismarck St. Mary's | 2022 State ND Bismarck St. Mary’s/ND Phenom (2022)
He will be leading the troops for the Saint’s in Bismarck this coming year. St. Mary’s will be a very talented team with high expectations and Gross will be at the helm. Evan is a long guard with nice measurables. He is a rock-solid shooter from beyond the arc. Gross is smooth in transition and very efficient. He does a nice job of getting into the lane and delivering the rock to the open man. Look for this long, skilled, athletic, and smart PG to have the Saints towards the top of the WDA next season.
6’1 PG Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND Fargo Davies/ECI (2022)
He is a fierce competitor with a never-back-down attitude. Ian is a playmaker with spectacular footwork and a great knack for finishing around the basket amongst traffic. He has high-quality ball-handling skills and a keen sense for making the correct pass. Ian has great toughness and strength. His outside jumper is always improving. This kid is a gym rat that loves basketball. I have witnessed him take over games many times in the last year. His senior season will be a special one.
5’9 PG Mikele Kambalo Mikele Kambalo 5'8" | PG Washington | 2022 State SD Sioux Falls Washington/Sacred Hoops (2022)
This kid from Sioux Falls is unbelievably quick and explosive. He can score buckets in a hurry from all 3-levels. Mikele is lighting quick in transition on both offense and defense. He excels at slashing to the lane and knifing through the defense. Once he is by his defender Mikele will get to the cup for a basket or he will drop a dime to an open teammate. His outside shot has been improving and he has become a real threat from the perimeter. On defense, Kambalo can be a headache for opposing guards because of is quick feet and awesome ball pressure. Mikele pressures the ball the full 94 feet and he works very hard at it. It seems like he is playing two passes ahead of everyone else. Mikele is an intense competitor that is primed for a big senior season. I can not wait to watch him play this weekend at the Hard Work Region Finals in Plymouth, MN.
6’1 PG Oliver Vincent Oliver Vincent 6'1" | PG Sioux Valley | 2023 State SD Sioux Valley/Pentagon Schoolers (2023)
He is very skilled with all the tools. Vincent is a big-time scoring machine from the PG position. He is extremely talented at attacking his defender and getting into the lane. Once in the paint, Vincent is deadly. He also lives at the free-throw lane. Not many PG’s shoot as many FT’s as he does. Oliver is a true gamer that will make the play necessary for his team to win.
5’10 Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND Fargo Davies/ECI (2023)
He is the quickest of all the point guards from North Dakota. Brown understands his role as a facilitator and a playmaker. He has excellent handles, smooth passing skills, and a nice jump shot. Raymond is a spark-plug on defense and a tough on-ball defender. I love his energy and hustle. He is not afraid to dive on the floor for a loose ball or come flying in from the arc for an offensive rebound. Look for Brown to be an x-factor for the Davies Eagles this year.
6’0 PG Rett Osthus Rett Osthus 6'0" | PG DeSmet | 2022 State SD De Smet/Pentagon Schoolers (2022)
He has great eyes which allows him to see the court well and find the open man. Rett is a precision passer. He can thread the needle, make the touch pass, and still make the easy the pass. Osthus does a nice job of getting his team into their offense and he can also push it in transition when the time calls for it. He knows how to feed the hot hand and who to get touches to in the prime situation. Look for this leader and smart decision-maker to have a memorable senior season for the Bulldogs.
6’5 G Tanner Te Slaa Tanner Te Slaa 6'5" | SF Boyden-Hull | 2022 State IA Boyden-Hull (IA)/SD Attack (2022)
He ran the “1” for SD Attack this summer, although he can play 1-4. Tanner’s intelligence and understanding of the game make him a great PG. He can shoot and score as well as any PG in the Midwest. Tanner has great handles and he is a skilled passer. Most of all he is a playmaker. Tanner can be a great defender. What sets him apart from others is how competitive he is. Tanner will do whatever it takes to get a W. He is a player that everyone wants on their team and nobody wants to play against him. This All-Star is a matchup nightmare that can will any team to a win.
6’0 PG Taylen Ashley Taylen Ashley 5'11" | PG Sf Roosevelt | 2023 State SD Sioux Fall Jefferson/SD Attack (2023)
He has an excellent understanding of the game and how to run the point position. Taylen is a great communicator on both ends of the court. He is also fluid at running the offense and directing traffic. Ashley is very difficult to guard when he gets going to the basket. He is an elite athlete and few players can stay with him. Taylen is also a good defender on the perimeter. What really catches your eye is when Ashley is in the open court going full speed. He is a dynamic player in transition. Look out for this junior, he is one of the best in all of South Dakota.
6’0 PG Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND Grand Forks Red River (2023)
A three-point assassin that shoots with confidence and leads with swagger. Kraft has exceptional handles and he is a gifted passer. I enjoy watching the way he changes speeds and how he spaces the floor when he does not have the ball in his hands. He can alleviate pressure and set up teammates with ease. Zach had a great summer with ECI and he will be one of the best guards in the EDC next winter.
