The event featured roughly 50 prospects playing in front of college coaches virtually. As part of our three part series, I will first focus on the top guards from the event, which includes some D1 and even D2 caliber prospects.
Evan Ipsaro Evan Ipsaro 5'11" | PG Covington Catholic | 2023 State KY (2023) Covington Catholic (5-10)
Ipsaro does a lot of what you look for in a typical point guard. Proven leader with the ball in his hands. Elite passer that sets his guys up and always has his head on a swivel. Ball handling is like a blur with his quickness. Has some bounce and is close to being able to dunk. Great perimeter defender with good footwork and lateral movement.
Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA (2023) Holy Cross (6-1)
This was my first chance to check out Meyer as he was one of a few Kentucky based players in the event. Boy did he impress. Very patient guard that has good pace and awareness on the floor. High basketball IQ and looks to make the additional pass. Tough to stay in front of and proved to be an elite finisher once he got by defenders. Shifty and tough around the rim.
Ryan Chew Ryan Chew 5'11" | PG Bellbrook | 2022 State OH (2022) Alter (5-10)
Chew is a player I’m very familiar with and he continued to show why he is one of Dayton’s best PG prospects. Quickness is at a high level. Scrappy defensively and showed he could stay in front of other guards, specifically impressing me with how he defended Paul McMillan IV Paul McMillan IV 6'2" | PG Woodward | 2022 State #229 Nation OH (2022). Shot the bell exceptionally well beyond the arc. Gifted and elite passer. Made clever passes to open guys and showed some versatility scoring the ball.
Jack Kronauge Jack Kronauge 6'1" | SG St Xavier | 2023 State OH (2023) Lakota East (6-2)
Jack is your typical Lakota East player. Team first, unselfish, and fundamentally sound. Showed this and some playing on a team with several other Lakota East players. Kronauge passes the ball well and sets his guys up. You can tell he forms chemistry with his teammates quickly and trusts to get them the ball. Gifted shooter but impressed with some bounce getting a nice breakaway dunk.
Keon Wright Keon Wright 6'0" | PG Oakwood | 2022 State OH (2022) Oakwood (6-0)
Very sound but athletic guard. Versatile as a scorer. Always been great at getting by defenders with his acceleration and speed at the second level. One of the more athletic guards you’ll find and possesses a high motor. Competitor that is unafraid to defend or be defended by opposing guards.
