PG- Omare Segarra 5-11 Dundee-Crown (IL) Led Epic Hoopz to a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend. Appeared to be more of scoring guard at this point of his development. But showed enough clever ball handling to make me think he might have a future as a true point. Standout contest was the opener against a good HIT squad (see below) Scored 14 points in this decisive victory. Also played well in the final game of the weekend. A close victory against another strong squad in Full Package 2024.
SG- Malachi Johnson 6-2 Guliford (IL) Strong backcourt prospect who simply shot the lights out all weekend. Was a key backcourt piece for a Illinois Hoopstars unit that went 4-0 on the weekend. I’m used to shooters being long and lanky. Johnson is built like a running back. Uses this frame well to create space on the perimeter. Not that he needs much room with his trigger quick release. Scored 21 points in a shortened victory a good United Persuit (MI) squad. In a closer victory against K3 (IL) notched 27 points. I think you get the picture that he can straight fill it up. Not just a shooter and scorer. Showed the versatility and ball handling ability to play the point when needed.
SF- Brendan Molis 6-3 York (IL) This young man gets the “comeback” award for the weekend. Did not think I would mentioning this player after disappointing opening loss to Epic Hoopz (see above). But bounced back very well as HIT went undefeated the rest of the weekend. Like most 2024’s could add some weight but has appealing length already. Competed hard defensively with a few blocked shots but primarily stood out offensively. Uses his size to get his shot off easily over smaller defenders. Also has good range on the perimeter. Standout game was the last of three on Saturday. Where he scored 14 points in the close victory.
PF- Ameer Morrow 6-5 Simeon (IL) It was more than the Payton Kamin Payton Kamin 6'7" | SF Worcester Academy | 2025 State NLG show for Team Ten Jabari Parker on the weekend. A door was left open with Team Ten missing it’s starting center and Morrow barged right through it. Played very aggressively around the basket against teams with big frontlines such as Fundamental U and the Mac Irvin Fire. Future is most likely on the wing. But the explosive and bouncy athlete had no qualms about mixing it up down low.
C- Kyan Shannon 6-5 Uplift (IL) Extremely long prospect played well for All in Athletics. Frankly I was surprised when I saw his listed height. If I would been forced to guess I would have pegged him closer to 6-6 or 6-7. He just has that much obvious length. Accordingly was able to post some impressive rejections on the weekend. Defense is ahead of his offense at this point. Ran the court well and fluidly for his size. Will need to add weight and improve his offensive skill set going forward. But the physical attributes are there and then some already.
