PG- Josh Fridman 5-7 Glenbrook North (IL) A small but skilled point guard had an excellent weekend playing for the Fundamental U UAA squad. What he lacks in size he more the makes up for it in guile and toughness. Controls tempo well and easily got his team into its offensive sets. You could tell that he has played a lot of basketball with regular season teammate Pat Schaller. Has a good outside shot that keeps defenses honest on the perimeter. With increased size and physical maturity this player could elevate his profile in the next few years.
SG- KJ Lamonte 6-2 Davenport North (IA) Physically impressive two guard who led the Quad City Shockers to a perfect 5-0 record. Only team to reach that number in any age division. Power guard who also posses a lot of bounce. Excelled in penetration and was not afraid of contact. In fact usually sought it out as he is powerful leaper. Really made his mark defensively. Used long arms to effectively get into passing lanes. Converted quickly when he got steals. When he didn’t he still frequently disrupted opposing offenses.
SF- Logan Rindfleisch Logan Rindfleisch 6'5" | SF Wisconsin Lutheran | 2024 State WI 6-5 Wisconsin Lutheran (WI) Definitely gets the toughness award. Excelled during Sunday action getting stitches late Saturday night. Beyond the grit displayed a high skill level as well. A bit of a hybrid forward right now between the 3 and 4 positions. Scored efficiently both inside and out. Featured an array of post moves and was a creative scorer. Long arms allowed him to collect a few blocked shots in the action I caught. Vertical growth will probably determine his position at the next level. But the talent is already there.
PF- Justin Sveiteris 6-5 Downers Grove South (IL) Highly skilled young post had an excellent weekend for Full Package. You don’t often say this but fundamentals are what stand out initially. Very little wasted motion in his no frills post game. Kept the ball high in the post and has a soft touch around the basket. Range extended out to the perimeter as he confidently sank a few from the elbow and foul line extended. Has textbook footwork in the pick and roll. Dove hard to the basket on rolls but stayed under control. Has good hands and did not have the misplays that seem to plague young bigs.
C- Ian Case 6-6 Macomb (IL) (pictured at top of article) This is a “check your program” type of athlete. Meaning has the physical gifts that you notice immediately. Case has a sturdy but lean frame with broad shoulders. Fluid athlete who moves around the court easily for a big man. Once the ball tips you realize these traits translate easily into game action. Defense is a little ahead of the offense at this point. Had multiple impressive blocked shots. Might be a little too aggressive at times defensively. That being said there are much worse things to be labeled. On the offensive side has a smooth an easy release on his outside shot. Can hit from three but that is not the strength of his game right now. Ran the court well and was able to finish shots at the rim. When he puts it all together with a little more height this could be a special prospect.
