July is a huge month for prospects as it is the peak of the live period. Players are trying to give coaches a lasting impression of their game before the end of the summer. The Central Jersey guard prospects are in the same boat as they are looking for a final push before fall league. Here are the top Central Jersey guard prospects with the most to prove in July.
, 6’4 SG St. Joe’s Metuchen 2022
Tuck has the potential to have a big July for the NJ Panthers and has to capitalize on it. The 6’4 guard is at his best attacking the basket where he is a good finisher and can make layups through contact. Tuck is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and can hit jumpers from behind the arc. He is a strong rebounder and has the athleticism to defend multiple positions. Tuck’s ability to play at both ends of the floor is something that will help his stock as the month goes by.
, 6’1 PG Rutgers Prep 2023
Piggee is a skilled lead guard that should have a big impact on Team Rio University this July. The 6’1 guard has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and get to the rim. Piggee can finish in a variety of ways around the basket and does not mind contact. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and has a nice release on his jumper. Piggee’s decision-making and ability to run the offense effectively are two things to watch from him as July passes.
, 5’9 PG Montgomery 2024
Moore is one of the more underrated point guards in Central Jersey and has the opportunity to do so for the Jersey Force. The 5’9 guard knows how to get to the rim and is a good finisher around the basket. Moore has a nice handle and is not fazed by on-ball pressure. He works hard on the defensive end and is a good rebounder for a guard his size. Moore is a tough-minded point guard who should have a strong July.
, 6’3 PG Keyport 2022
Thomson has had a strong spring season with the Jersey Shore Predators and has the opportunity to build on it this July. The 6’3 guard is a natural scorer as he puts up points in bunches and knows how to get to the free throw line. Thomson has a good mid-range game and can knock down open jumpers from the perimeter. He is an underrated passer and is a strong rebounder. If Thomson is able to defend at a high level this July, he should see a big boost in his stock.
, 6’2 SG Trenton 2023
Hutson had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Tornadoes and has the potential to continue it in July with Team Final Black. The 6’2 guard attacks the basket with a purpose and can finish in a variety of ways around the basket. Hutson knows how to draw contact and has the ability to score in the mid-range. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and is a play-maker on the defensive end. Hutson’s ability to bring it on both ends of the floor will help him have a big month of July.
