Teams from around the Midwest were in attendance with primarily D2/D3/NAIA coaches checking in on the talent. Let’s take a look at the Indiana natives who stood out the most over the course of the weekend.
Landen Babusiak Landen Babusiak 6'11" | C Bosco Institute/Indiana Connections Academy | 2022 State IN (Don Bosco Institute 2022)- The versatile, mobile big man played really well all weekend long showing off his excellent rebounding ability. Babusiak is a good finisher around the basket with both hands, has a nice shooting touch, and handles it well enough to function out on the perimeter at 6’8″-6’9″. He was good on the defensive end as well in Indiana Game Premier’s big double overtime win against Indy Heat Red. College coaches at all levels love the way he moves around the floor at his size.
Christian Nunn Christian Nunn 6'3" | SF L'anse Creuse North | 2022 State IN (Crispus Attucks H.S. 2022)- Nunn makes his presence known on the court at all times on the offensive end for Gym Rats Black. He is such a physical presence on the wing and extremely difficult to handle in transition. When Nunn gets a head of steam driving it downhill there is no stopping him. He has versatility on the defensive end due to having the athleticism and quickness to matchup with guards along with the length and strength guard forwards. Nunn had a host of Division II and high-level Division III/NAIA programs following him around this weekend.
Ashton Johnson Ashton Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne South | 2022 State IN (Fort Wayne South Side H.S. 2022)- Strong point guard that runs the show offensively. Johnson has the physicality to play through contact, the quickness to get by his man off the dribble, and the athleticism to get up and finish around the rim. Very skilled with the ball in his hands. His shooting stroke looked good as well when knocking down some pull-up jumpers. Johnson is definitely a point guard prospect for small college coaches to get to know.
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN (Crown Point H.S. 2022)- Adzia was lighting it up from three-point range in Indiana Game Premier’s win over Indy Heat on Saturday afternoon. At just 5’9″ Adzia obviously isn’t the biggest player out there, but shot makers are shot makers and he certainly is one. He hit some big time shots all weekend long including draining three free throws after being fouled on a three with 0.3 seconds left against Indy Red to force overtime. SHOOTER!!!
Andrew Leeper Andrew Leeper 6'6" | PF Homestead | 2022 State IN (Homestead H.S. 2022)- One of the most impressive things about Leeper’s game is how he impacts winning even when he isn’t scoring. The 6’6″ forward is an outstanding athlete that gets up to protect the rim with big time blocks, can switch out and guard on the perimeter with no problem, and is a high-level rebounder. That is why he was one of the most sought after prospects at Brawl for the Ball this weekend.
