The two-day event took place from Saturday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 4th. The event featured over 40 teams ranging from 15U to 17U. It also featured several players whose skills help keep their teams together. In this article, we take a look at the top Glue Guys from the event.
Tausulu Misaalefua 6’0 PF Coastal Elite 2023 (featured image) – “Big Boi” as he is affectionately called by his coach. Came up big time and time again for CE this weekend. He left it all on the floor, diving for loose balls and battling as an undersized post. In addition to his effort, he was able to knock home the occasional 3 ball.
Javon Edwards-Cobb 6’1 PF All Vegas 2023 – JEC battled all weekend for All Vegas. He did his damage on the block, using a surprisingly quick turnaround jumper to get buckets. The undersized 4 man was a good team leader, sacrificing his body for the squad.
Carter Lankford 6’3 SF D1 Southern Cal 2022 – Lankford may have been the top glue guy on the weekend. I love the way he moves the basketball. The forward made quick decisions with his passes, allowing teammates to set up other teammates. He has provided rebounding and his usual tough defense. If that wasn’t enough, he brought out his jump shot this weekend knocking down several mid range jumpers. His best game was his 18 point performance against the Midwest Tar Heels.
Cortez Eaton 6’4 SG Coastal Elite 2023 – Eaton is a rangy athletic wing who loves to drive the ball on offense. His glue like quality for me however, was his ability to keep offensive rebounds alive for his team. The long armed guard, used a quick second jump to tip balls to himself and his teammates.
Max Anger 5’10 SG D1 Southern Cal 2022 – Anger’s glue for D1 was his bucket getting. I have him down as a quirky scorer. He’ll score off little runners, find buckets by moving without the ball, and picked up found points around the rim. If all else fails, he showed he can knock down open shots from 3. A candidate for my all Cedrick Ceballos team, for players that don’t need plays run for them to rack up points.
