The two-day event took place from Saturday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 4th. The event featured over 40 teams ranging from 15U to 17U. It also featured several top-notch Big Men. In this article, we take a look at our top Bigs from the event.
Michael Saba Michael Saba 6'8" | PF Chaparral | 2022 State AZ 6’8 C Team RHJ 2022 – Saba was efficient throughout the weekend. He showed good hands, catching interior passes. At first glance, you don’t think he’ll blow you away with his leaping, but he was not shy about finishing several plays with thunderous dunks. A High Academic guy, expect Saba to be a valued recruit for several D2’s and NAIA programs.
Chris Long Chris Long 6'8" | C Vista Grande | 2022 State AZ 6’8 PF Pal Elite 2022 (featured image) – If you’re looking for a skilled 4 then look no further than Long. His size helped PAL with frontcourt depth, however, it was his shooting that caught the eye. Long shoots it effortlessly from the College 3 and was extremely accurate when spacing the floor from the corners.
Jeremiah Hanna 6’8 C Splash City 2022 – I’ll take Hanna’s energy and effort all day. He fits the mode of a guy that just gets after it. Hanna rebounded and defended the paint at a high level. He also showed that he can score for you as well, evident by a 21 point performance against D1 New Mexico.
Andreas Engholm 6’7 PF Roots Academy 2023 – Engholm is the prototypical Trail 4. The 6’7 Forward showed a ton of skill including the ability to score with his back to the basket. He also displayed the ability to stretch the floor, in a big 23 point performance against Coastal Elite.
Aaron Foote Aaron Foote 6'6" | PF Hamilton | 2022 State AZ 6’6 PF Legion of Hoops 2022 – What impressed me most about Foote was his ability to shoot the ball off the move. Most stretch bigs are standstill, catch and shoot players, Foote is one of the rare bigs able to shoot off screens, knocking down a ton of shots off curl action. With a 3.8, Foote a big-time high academic prospect.
