The field was a strong collection of 16 SoCal-based teams with a good amount of college prospects on each roster. In this piece we take a closer look at the standouts from the rising senior class who were not mentioned in our initial coverage of this event.
Shant Chenorhavorian, Arcadia – Chenorhavorian was another sharpshooting guard who lit up the court from three-point range. The 6-foot-2 senior-to-be scored a game-high 23 points in a win over Victor Valley, including six makes from behind the arc. Chenorhavorian showed the ability to knock down shots off the catch, off the dribble, and from multiple spots and distances.
Fabian Montellano, Arcadia – The above-mentioned Chenorhavorian wasn’t the only three-point shooting threat for Arcadia at the event as Montellano showed he can stroke the deep ball with consistency, as well. The 5-foot-10 guard has a quick trigger and doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot off.
Malcolm Bell, Diamond Bar – Bell is a strong and athletic 6-foot-5 wing/forward who is best when getting downhill in transition and finishing at or above the rim. The rising senior is an interior rebounding presence whose speed and length allow him to push straight-line drive fast breaks and get to the rack. In the half-court setting, Bell has great footwork in the mid-post and uses his physicality and touch to get to the rim for paint buckets.
Alex Nokes Alex Nokes 6'8" | PF Calabasas | 2022 State CA-S , Beverly Hills – Nokes has some inside-out scoring ability. The 6-foot-8 forward has touch with either hand around the basket, but can also step out and hit the 13-17 foot pick-and-pop shot or make a strong move to the rack out of a face-up. Nokes is a good positional rebounder with highly fundamental box-out technique.
Jac Mani, Beverly Hills – Mani is another player on the Beverly Hills roster who can do some impressive things both inside and out on the offensive end. The 6-foot-8 forward can stretch the floor to the three-point line off the catch and has the ball skills to put it on the deck and beat a slower defender off the bounce for a paint finish or execute a dribble hand-off. Mani is also a skilled and high IQ passer with good court awareness.
