Like yesterday’s highlighted players, this group impressed with unselfishness and defensive awareness. Several will have the opportunity to continue their strong play once we start high school play in Winter. For now though, here is the top guys.
Mason Brandt NW Ohio (Leipsic) 6-4 2022
Brandt was a solid complimentary piece for NW Ohio in their matchup with 3M Elite. Combo scorer that showed he could score from multiple levels. Shoots the ball well from beyond the arc. Good mechanics. Bouncy when needed, with great elevation and finishing over the rim. Like his size at 6-4 and showed he could play off ball as well as take the ball.
Kevin Hamilton Kevin Hamilton 5'8" | PG St Vincent St Mary Hs | 2023 State OH All Ohio Select (Akron SVSM) 5-9 2023
Hamilton is extremely quick. Gets past defenders with that quickness and found the paint. I liked how he created for himself and teammates. Consistency with his passing is something that concerns me, but we will have a chance to see just how good of a passer he can be with his SVSM team in the Winter.
Deric Jaynes Hopson Elite-Richardson (Whitmer) 5-11 2023
Jaynes impressed with his ability to defend on the perimeter. Moved side-to-side quickly. Found himself moving the ball more than keeping himself. Got penetration off the bounce and found teammates all over the perimeter. Sometimes keeps a little too long but overall was composed with his decision making.
William Miller William Miller 6'2" | PG Ottoville | 2022 State OH NW Ohio (Ottoville) 6-1 2022
Miller impressed me with his calmness on the floor and good passing ability. Looks off the defender and gets the ball to his teammates. Persistent rebounder which was impressive for a 6-1 guard. High motor and high hustle player.
Trey Robertson Trey Robertson 5'10" | PG Waverly | 2022 State OH Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson (Waverly) 5-10 2022
Robertson was the best on-ball defender on his Pumas team. Wasn’t phased by contact and wasn’t afraid to get physical on either ends of the floor. Great floor general on the offensive end. Smart passer and capable of getting shots up in a high volume. Size is a concern with his being under 6-0, but his heart and work ethic has already attracted attention from college coaches Regionally.
