Between defensive menaces, mismatch problems, and dribble drive tendencies, these guys all showed why they were some of the better 2Gs on display throughout the weekend. Take a look at the top 2Gs below.
Jalen Wenger Jalen Wenger 6'4" | SF Dalton | 2022 State OH All Ohio Black (Dalton) 6-4
Wenger has impressed me in the past with his frame for a SG. Long and athletic. Contributor on both ends of the floor. Took advantage of his larger body to beat smaller defenders off the bounce. Works hard on the defensive end by getting after loose balls and sitting down defending. Should be a scholarship athlete for a D2 program looking for a nice guard.
Carter Valentine Carter Valentine 6'5" | SF Colonel Crawford | 2022 State OH Ohio Buckets-Lash (Colonel Crawford) 6-5
I didn’t get a chance to see much of Valentine due to getting to his game a little late, but I saw enough to know this kid can play. Impressed with a wide variety of scoring. Doesn’t “look” like a physically overpowering guard, but knows how to put the ball in the bucket at the end of the day. Lots of upside but I will want to see more of how he defends before labeling him with a specific level.
Thomas Anthony Nova Village-Anthony (Worthington Christian) 6-2
Anthony doesn’t have an much athleticism as other guards on this list, but he was grittier than many guys here as well. Very patient and very fundamentally sound. Splits defenders and gets by them with his ball-handling. Different shooting mechanics as he has a very high release but found success knocking down those shots still. Will be interested to see how he plays in the Winter with a Worthington Christian team losing some talent.
Dasan Doucet Dasan Doucet 6'4" | SF Fairmont | 2022 State OH Hopson Elite-Awls (Fairmont) 6-4
Doucet has impressed me in the past this Summer with his scoring abilities. He spent last weekend impressing with his unselfishness. Created opportunities for teammates by luring defenses in with his dribble drive. Made the extra pass consistently. Physically strong guard.
Corey Hudson Corey Hudson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2022 State OH Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson (Pickerington North) 6-2
Hudson was listed as a PG in the media guide, but he showed me more of a distributing 2G in their game against Gym Rats. Hudson excelled in transition, attacking at angles and drawing defenders out to him. Made smart passes to numerous guys. Nice build. Looking forward to seeing what he does this Winter at Pickerington North.
Ramar Pryor Ramar Pryor 6'2" | SG St. Vincent-St. Mary | 2022 State OH Team Clutch Ohio (Akron SVSM) 6-2
Pryor is already committed to Cleveland State, but looked good in bracket play against M&M Boyz. Explosive off the bounce and tough to stay in front of. Acrobatic around the rim and made tough layups through contact. Bouncy and found success consistently getting to the rim.
