I made the trip to Birmingham, AL where there were a number of events I attended including the Adidas 3SSB Session One and the Prep Hoops Circuit “The Platform.”
With so many talented players in one area for coaches to see, it will be tons of content coming out with standouts from both events.
Here’s a look at some of the 2024 standouts from 3SSB that I saw.
Somtochukwu Cyril Somtochukwu Cyril 6'10" | C Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #65 Nation GA | 6’10” C | EAB Tennessee 17U
Cyril is a monster in the paint already with his fluid athleticism and hard nosed style of play, and as he continues to develop he’ll be heavily recruited by schools all over the country. The 6’10” big doesn’t look like a rising sophomore as he has an impressive frame and athleticism, he’s an elite shot blocker and rebounder and he runs the floor really hard and can keep up with guards and wings. He’s still a little raw on the offensive end but as that continues to improve he’ll be highly sought after for sure.
Tyler Bailey | 6’3” PG | Team Loaded VA
Bailey joined a talented Team Loaded 15U team and was a big reason that they are still undefeated through two Adidas events on the season. Bailey is a rising star at Oak Hill that is well beyond his years with is skill set and IQ at the guard position, he already has good size and a frame that should fill out and he plays with a toughness and go-getter attitude you have to love. He’s very talented as both a scorer and an unselfish distributor, he can make an impact on the glass and on the defensive end and he thrives as a go-to guy with the ball in his hands.
Mykel Jenkins | 6’6” CG | Team Loaded VA
Jones, who is from North Carolina but plays with the Loaded VA group, is another intriguing guard prospect who is actually more of a utility guy at his size than just a pure guard. At 6’6” with long arms and natural athleticism, Jenkins is able to play and guard multiple positions on the floor, he thrives in transition with his ability to finish above the rim and he can put it on the deck and create for himself and others. He’ll be one to watch as he continues to fill out and polish his already solid skill set.
Eli DeLaurier | 6’8” PF | Team Loaded VA
DeLaurier is already on college coach radars as he had a good freshman year at Miller School and he has tons of tools at his size that are very intriguing moving forward. He’s a fluid athlete who can run the floor, block shots and defend multiple positions, and he has good touch out to the three-point line as well. As he continues to fill out and get stronger and plays the game with the same motor and skill set, he’ll have coaches lining up to recruit him.
Dominique Bailey | 6’2” WG | Team Loaded VA
Bailey is still a little unknown by college coaches but if you’re in the VA basketball world you know about him and know that he has a tremendous impact on the game in a number of different ways. Even at his age, Bailey is one of the top defenders in the state as he’s excellent on the ball and has great instincts allowing him to get deflections and take charges, he has a toughness and resilience about him and he plays with a great motor. He’s a good shooter on the offensive end and has a good feel to make plays for others as well.
Zion Collins Zion Collins 6'4" | PG Word of God | 2025 State NC | 6’3” CG | Team Loaded NC 16U
Collins is a very talented guard that is an intriguing prospect at his size and with his athleticism, and he looks to be getting better every time I see him play. He’s a downhill attacking guard that can play at the rim and above the rim, he finishes well through traffic and he can make plays for others as well. He plays with good pace and can get to his spots, and he has big time potential on the defensive end as well.
