Continue ReadingThere has been a ton of movement in the 2024 class over the last 6 months as several players have moved back to 2025 while others that were in 2023 are now 2024 prospects. We’ve also added a lot of new names to the list and expanded to over 70 prospects already in our 2024 rankings. Here’s a breakdown of the top 10 in the rising Sophomore class.
Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY , Lyon County – Perry remains the top player in the class and already holds D1 offers from New Orleans, Creighton and Ole Miss. Travis is on track to break the Kentucky career scoring record at this point and looks to be one of the best prospects to come out of western Kentucky in several years.
Trent Noah Trent Noah 6'7" | SF Harlan County | 2024 State #139 Nation KY , Harlan County – Noah is a big guard and an excellent passer. He shot the ball at over 40% from 3 in his freshman season before a broken foot ended his year and kept him out of spring AAU. Look for him to impress coaches this month as he’s now back and playing again.
Damone King Damone King 6'0" | PG DeSales | 2024 State KY , DuPont Manual – Damone is one of the biggest stock risers in this rankings update. The shifty guard from the Derby City looks like a future D1 player with a lot of upside. King plays with a certain swagger to him and he’s fun to watch on the court.
Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY , North Hardin – Possessing perhaps the highest long term ceiling in the class, Ayden is a big and long 5 man who is an excellent rim protector and rebounder. His offense continues to develop and he should be picking up scholarship offers in the not too distant future.
Johnny Djema Johnny Djema 6'8" | PF Evangel Christian | 2024 State KY , Evangel Christian – Part of the trio of bigs at Evangel, Dejma is a good rim runner on offense and rim protector on defense. He’s still very raw on offense but he has plenty of time to improve.
Jacob Hand Jacob Hand 6'4" | SF Holy Cross | 2024 State KY , Holy Cross – One of the best players in the class that you never hear about, Hand is an excellent shooter as a big guard. Capable of finishing in traffic well, Jacob missed out on a lot of spring AAU due high school baseball but should catch some coaches eyes this month.
Blake Reed Blake Reed 5'10" | PG Mason County | 2024 KY , Bracken County – A skilled and tough guard, Reed is capable of putting up huge scoring numbers. He’s a microwave scorer that heats up quickly and is capable of scoring 40+ any night out.
Kade Unseld Kade Unseld 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2024 State #252 Nation KY , Warren Central – Unseld has high potential and has spent the spring AAU season showing that he’s likely ready to be one of the best players in the 4th region next season. Kade is a good shooter and still growing. Expect him to be a high scoring wing with a D1 ceiling.
Beau Baker, Washington County – A big bodied post player, Baker splits his time between baseball and basketball in the spring and also plays football in the fall. It remains to be seen which sport he’ll play in college but he’s one of the best posts in this class.
Jacob Tucker Jacob Tucker 6'3" | SG Fairdale | 2024 State KY , Fairdale – Formerly unranked, Tucker was a top freshman in Louisville last season and has shown the ability to score the ball against anyone. Jacob is a good shooter and has a strong frame that allows him to finish through traffic.
