2024 Rankings: SEPA Players to Watch in July

Photo: Liam Brennan (@leprechaunfilms) In late June we published our Class of 2024 prospect rankings and by now you are familiar with the names at the top of our list like Malachi Palmer Malachi Palmer 6'4" | SF Central Dauphin | 2024 State PA , Moses Hipps Moses Hipps 6'4" | CG Archbishop Carroll | 2024 State PA , Ron Brown III Ron Brown III 5'11" | CG Springside-Chestnu Hill Academy | 2024 State PA and Ryan Williams Ryan Williams 6'3" | PG Malvern Prep | 2024 State PA . So today we decided to take a deep dive into Prephoops.com’s Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings to reveal some names outside the Top 50 we believe you should become more familiar with during the summer recruiting period. All of the names below are very talented prospects who are primed to have their breakout on the grassroots circuit here in July 2021. #58… Isaac Moore Isaac Moore 6'6" | PF Friends Central | 2024 State PA – 6’5’’ / Friends Central / Philly Pride National UAA / Forward: This spring Moore showed a more polished offensive skill set and great instincts for the game. He displayed excellent composure under pressure and solid foot work for a 15 year old big fella. He is a great passer and his jump shot showed significant improvement. A significantly improved jumper is becoming a reliable weapon for Moore as well. When he develops his ball handling Moore is going to be a true inside-outside threat. #90… Pearse McGuinn Pearse McGuinn 6'5" | SG Cardinal O'Hara | 2024 State PA – 6’5’’ / Cardinal O’Hara / K-Low Elite / Shooting Guard: McGuinn is a 6’5” pure shooter who looks taller and longer than his actual listed measurements. In late June McGuinn put himself on the recruiting map by torching the nets at Philly HS Live (Session II) with his jumper. McGuinn drained threes from all over the court and sprinkled in a few mid-range knock downs as well. For a prospect of his length, he has proven to be a reliable ball handler. We expect him to be slotted significantly higher than #90 when our rankings are updated again this fall. [player_tooltip player_id="1181867" first="Josh" last="Reed"] of Philly Revolution. #99… Josh Reed Josh Reed 6'2" | CG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State PA – 6’2’’ / Archbishop Wood / Philly Revolution / Shooting Guard: At the end of May, Reed turned heads at the Big Shots / Philly Pride tournament with his slasher style of guard play. He does an excellent job of finishing those drives / cuts to the rim with both hands. A more than respectable jumper keeps defenders from sagging off him. Reed’s court vision and high basketball IQ enable him to distribute the rock very effectively. Still, what really jumps out about this 2024 prospect is how well Reed rebounds at both ends of the floor. On defense Reed is a ball hawk who creates turnovers.   #128…Norman Gee, Jr. – 5’10’’ / North Penn / PA Running Aces / Point Guard: A complete point guard who this spring scored 20+ points in several games at the Crossover East Coast Regional (PA) tournament, Gee is a prospect to keep an eye on here in July. He thrives in pick-n-roll and can shoot the three ball very well, including from behind the arc. Additionally, Gee spearheads the stout defense the PA Running Aces made their reputation on. #174… Jalen Harper Jalen Harper 6'0" | PG St. Joseph’s Prep | 2024 State PA – 6’0’’ / St. Joseph’s Prep / Prep Select / Point Guard: Harper is a slick point guard who functions as the primary ball handler, decision maker and scorer for Prep Select. During the end of May at the Southern Jam Fest (VA) he scored the least talked about 43 point performance (20 of 23 for FT line) we can recall. Harper may not be making social media headlines, but make no mistake about it, this kid is a legit DI prospect. His outstanding guard play during the high school live period in June further proved that fact.   Unranked…Thomas Sorber – 6’10” / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final EYBL / Power Forward: A recent transfer from Trenton Catholic Academy (NJ), one could argue that Sorber was the “big” whose stock rose the most during June. At the Philly HS Live (Session II) event as he was simply unstoppable at times (posted two double-doubles). He owns a wingspan longer than 6’9” and large hands, so Sorber catches everything that is thrown to him. Once he has received the rock, Sorber can absorb contact and finish at the rim. Sorber establishes position on the low blocks well and can then score with his back to the basket. He has also displayed has range on his jumper out to 3-point line. At the other end of the floor, Sorber contests shots well. We expect him to be seated high in our next release of Pennsylvania 2024 rankings. Unranked…Rylan Muniz – 5’10’’ / Executive Education Charter / Team Final Red / Combo Guard: Muniz has emerged seemingly out of nowhere because Executive’s roster turned over thanks to the graduation of several key players. Muniz is a quick, change of speed guard with ball on a string handles, who did more than hold his own at Philly HS Live (Session II) against Archbishop Carroll’s super elite group of backcourt players. Muniz also poured in 28 points (7 threes) in a win over Central Bucks East. In addition to his perimeter shooting, in June Muniz showed the college coaches in attendance that he can get a team into their half-court sets and deliver the rock with precision. We expect big things from Muniz here in July.
