Top Five
Lincoln Kienholz Lincoln Kienholz 6'3" | PG Pierre | 2023 State SD of Pierre/South Dakota Attack 17s (6’3). Athletically Lincoln is simply different than who he is competing against in this class. It’s a big reason why he is playing 17s and it’s a large reason why his numbers at Pierre have been a regular headline. Certainly a top three prospect in this class, an argument can be made for top two at least because he moves at such a higher level while always producing.
Damon Wilkinson Damon Wilkinson 6'10" | C De Smet | 2023 State SD of De Smet/Pentagon Schoolers (6’7). The floor is there for Damon to step up and be the top big man prospect in the South Dakota class of 2023. He took big steps forward this winter with De Smet giving them inside numbers on their way to a title and he’s continued to progress with the Schoolers the past two months as scholarship eyes are watching close.
Reed Rus Reed Rus 6'3" | SG Mt. Vernon/Plankinton | 2023 State SD of MVP/South Dakota Attack (6’3). Reed is another player that made a big jump in the rankings that will be updated here shortly. Reed is a hard working, skilled, do everything kind of player. It was fun to see him be a main scoring weapon in winter games and then play with Attack giving something different on every possession. Type of plug and play guy because a coach can look around, see what he needs, see what he has, and tell Reed to go handle the needed role.
Dylan Soulek Dylan Soulek 6'3" | SG Mitchell | 2023 State SD of Mitchell (6’1). One of the most improved players in the state of South Dakota this year was Dylan Soulek Dylan Soulek 6'3" | SG Mitchell | 2023 State SD . Earned a starting role in the first month and then followed that buy giving his team dependable backcourt scoring numbers they desperately needed but did it with efficient numbers and also moving the basketball to feed the bigs up front. Efficient young player.
Blake Volmer Blake Volmer 6'0" | CG Winner | 2023 State SD of Winner/South Dakota Attack (6’1). Most of the time it’s hard to measure a stock riser in numbers but in Volmer’s case, it’s not. He made a 60 spot jump in the PHD 100 for the 2023 class! Blake not only give Winner a legit second option, he gave his team a second all around big number producer that rebounded in bulk (9 a game as a guard). Blake is also a 40 percent club member (shot 41 percent from the arc this year).
