Players were at their best over the course of the day as they tried to raise their stocks in front of college coaches. Here are some of the top stock risers from Championship Sunday at the Jersey Shore Jam Fest.
Ethan Simmon Ethan Simmon 6'4" | SG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2022 State NJ , 6’4 SG St. Joe’s Metuchen 2022
Simmon had a standout day for the NJ Panthers as he showed off his all-around game. The 6’4 guard has a smooth shooting form as he wastes little motion in his jumper. Simmon moved exceptionally well off the ball, freeing himself up for easy jumpers and layups. He moved his feet well on the defensive end and made good passes in the half court. Simmon is a sharp-shooting wing prospect who will help make a team better at the next level.
Ruben Rodriguez, 6’1 PG Reading 2023
Rodriguez was an integral part of Team Final Red 16U’s title run as he made plays all over the floor. The 6’1 guard played with composure on the ball and did not make many mistakes with the ball in his hands. Rodriguez attacked the basket with a purpose and did not mind drawing contact on his way to the basket. He hit big shots down the stretch of the championship and moved his feet well on the defensive end. Rodriguez picked up an offer from Jacksonville over the weekend and could see more after his play on Sunday.
Alex Mostashari, 6’4 SG Bullis School 2024
Mostashari showed off why he was one of the better shooters at the Jersey Shore Jam Fest on Sunday with several big shots throughout the day. The 6’4 guard has a quick release on his shot and has a clean shooting stroke. Mostashari drilled the game-tying triple against Philly Pride to send the game into overtime with under five seconds to go, showing his ability to knock down clutch shots. He shot the ball with confidence throughout the game and moved well off the ball to free himself up for shots. Mostashari’s ability to knockdown jumpers from behind the arc is something that will help his stock in a big way as his varsity career progresses.
Kaseem Watson Kaseem Watson 6'6" | CG West Catholic | 2022 State PA , 6’7 SG/SF West Catholic 2022
Watson had an impactful Championship Sunday as he helped K-Low Elite take home the 17U Expressway title. The 6’7 wing shot the ball with confidence from distance and was able to get his shot up over smaller defenders. Watson scored effectively in the mid-range and made good passes throughout the course of the day. He showed his ability to defend multiple positions and helped out on the defensive glass. Watson is a skilled wing prospect who helped his stock in a big way with his performance on Sunday.
Derek Simpson Derek Simpson 6'3" | PG Lenape | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 PG Lenape 2022
Simpson was simply unstoppable at times for SJ Titans on Sunday as he dictated the pace of the game throughout the day. The 6’0 guard pushed the ball in transition effectively and made several nifty passes to teammates cutting to the rim. Simpson has a good handle, which he used to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the rim. He moved his feet well on the defensive end and was unafraid of taking big shots when his team needed him to. Simpson is a crafty floor general who knows how to make plays throughout the course of the game.
