A select few of the top players from the state will have the opportunity to represent Idaho at the collegiate level and will be given an amazing experience at the same time. Playing college basketball is a dream come true for many players and I am honored to be able to highlight some of these great players who will be playing at the next level. Continue reading for a look at some of the college commitments from the class of 2021 in the state of Idaho.
Covy Kelly Covy Kelly 6'0" | PG Garden Valley | 2021 State ID , Walla Walla Community College: Kelly will be taking his talents to the basketball dome at WWCC for his first two seasons of college basketball. Covy had an outstanding prep career which was capped off with a 45-point performance to seal a state championship. Covy can score at all three levels and has a deadly shot from outside, can drive to the rim and score with both hands, or pull-up early and shoot the mid-range jumper. Covy’s ability to get hot in a hurry and stay hot over the course of a game will make him a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Kelly will look to use his two community college seasons to showcase his skills on the court.
Josh Gillespie Josh Gillespie 6'3" | SG Mountain View | 2021 State ID , Walla Walla Community College: Josh and Covy will continue their streak as teammates from Garden Valley when they both land at WWCC. Josh plays more of a wing/forward position and is dominant from mid-range and in. He is really athletic and can score at will against any and all defenders. Gillespie has a great feeling for the game and is a high IQ player who also loves to rebound on both ends of the floor and uses his physicality to his advantage against all kinds of defenders. He also has the ability to guard anyone on the court and college coaches will love his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Watch for Josh to make an immediate impact at WWCC before taking his talents to another great program.
