Some players really came onto the scene for the first time this weekend and improved their stock considerably. Here are some of my surprise standouts and players who were risers this weekend:
Darien Luke NextLevel: Luke is playing up an age division and was still a bright spot this weekend. He’s a long, athletic wing player that has plenty of potential. Luke has a nice looking jump shot and is great at getting to the rim. He shows a lot of promise on the defensive side with his long reach and intangibles. He can switch onto anyone and is also a solid rim protector. Luke will definitely be someone to keep an eye on moving forward as an athletic scoring wing.
Will Mays Team FOE OKC: Mays is a stat sheet stuffer. He’s a true, pure scorer and will put up nearly 20 points every game. He also is a fantastic passer and gets his assists in too. Mays is a solid defender and will only get better, as he has very active hands and comes away with a lot of steals. I was impressed with his composure on drives to the basket and strength to finish through contact. Mays had a great weekend and his stock is on the rise.
Sterling Vinson Missouri Flight: Vinson is a very long and athletic wing that can handle the ball as a point guard. At 6’2, his ability to create is extremely impressive. Vinson is a knock down shooter and has a very pure looking jumper. He defends well on the perimeter and is athletic enough to guard almost anyone. Vinson will be a great find at point guard for someone and has the potential to improve even more. His game is very smooth.
Nate Brown Nate Brown 6'5" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2023 State OK Buddy Buckets: This kid has all the potential in the world and really came into his own this weekend. He’s a 6’4 guard that rebounds like a big man. Brown is a matchup nightmare as he’s too tall for guards to defend but is too quick and athletic for posts to defend. Brown also has a smooth jump shot and extended range. His motor is always high, as he’s a solid offensive rebounder and goes after loose balls. I really like the potential at the next level for Nate Brown Nate Brown 6'5" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2023 State OK .
