Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ (2022 Jefferson)
Busy week for the 6-foot-4 junior and the Demos as they played four games on the week and Washington was dominant in the first three, notching 34, 48, and 28 points in blowout wins. The scoring will almost always be there for him but it was his work on the boards (14 rpg) and assists (6 apg) that really set this particular week apart from previous ones. This past weekend, both me and teammates Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ made an unofficial visit to the University of Oregon.
Marquis Cook Marquis Cook 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #6 Nation AZ (2023 Jefferson)
Cook had a big week as well for Jefferson as the 6-foot-7 sophomore was consistent with his scoring and rebounding. He also stepped up with his shot-blocking, tallying a season-high six blocks against Central Catholic and then five against Sherwood. As his outside shot has not been falling as much, he was more aggressive taking the ball to the hole and getting to the line against Central Catholic.
Trent Templeton Trent Templeton 5'11" | CG David Douglas | 2021 State OR (2021 David Douglas)
The Scots have been a bit of a surprise in the Mt Hood Conference this season and Templeton has been a big key to that success. In their win over Gresham, he showed great vocal leadership on both ends of the floor and played with a motor that never stopped. The lefty attacked the basket drawing fouls and defensively he blanketed whoever his assignment was. Templeton has committed to D-III Hamline.
Josiah Collins (2022 David Douglas)
We saw Collins play for the first time against Gresham and liked what we saw. The 5-foot-10 point guard is a bulldog going to the hoop and has the strength to absorb contact and finish around the basket. He was a physical, on-the-ball defender and was quick to get out in transition after creating a turnover. While we didn’t see him make a perimeter jumper, his stroke looked good from the free throw line.
Asher Krauel Asher Krauel 6'1" | CG Sherwood | 2021 State OR (2021 Sherwood)
Like most of the Bowmen against Jefferson, Krauel’s shot wasn’t quite falling from three-point land. But where the 6-foot-1 combo guard made his mark was on defense. Pretty much nobody is going to shut down Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ , but Krauel played his butt off against him and help limit the number of opportunities he had. All not surprising from the two-time Pacific Conference Defensive POY.
Pierre Tran (2021 Sherwood)
With starting point guard Owen Caudle Owen Caudle 6'0" | PG Sherwood | 2022 State OR out due to injury, Tran was pushed into service and the senior delivered. The 6-foot guard played confidently with the basketballand found his own spots on offense. On one sequence in the second half, he made a move toward the hoop, and without hesitation dropped in a shot over the arms of Mookie Cook. He ended up finishing tied for the team lead in scoring with 7.
Nate Perkins-Fuesser (2022 Benson)
We saw Benson play twice this week and in both games, Perkins-Fuesser made an impression on us. The guard didn’t really do anything particularly flashy but he always seemed to make the right play. Perkins-Fuesser took good care of the basketball, made open shots, and found the open man with his passing.
