Raysean Seamster Raysean Seamster 6'6" | SF Roosevelt | 2022 State OR (2022 Roosevelt)
We recently profiled Seamster and there’s no question that the junior is not only one of the best varsity newcomers this season, he’s one of the best varsity players period. Against Forest Grove, his combination of length and athleticism produced six dunks but he also showed off a nice touch on his shot and was a factor defensively with his motor. The ceiling is extremely high with Seamster as college programs start to get aware of him.
Trace Salton Trace Salton 6'5" | SF Lake Oswego | 2021 State OR (2021 Lake Oswego)
Salton has been the go-to guy all year for Lake Oswego so it made sense he was the guy getting things done down the stretch in the Lakers’ big win on senior night over Canby. The 6-foot-5 forward was posting up strong, attacking the basket off the dribble, and even knocking down shots from the perimeter. Thanks to his personal second half surge, LO survived a Canby rally to pull out the ’W’.
Alex Evans (2022 Canby)
A big reason why Canby has been tough to deal with has been the play of Evans, who had to step up even bigger in several ways with senior big man Ben Bailey Ben Bailey 6'5" | PF Canby | 2021 State OR out of action. The 6-foot-3 guard has been capably playing at the point where his combination of skills and size at the position make him extremely difficult to contend with. He was draining threes for the Cougars all night as Canby came up just short.
Terrence Hill Jr Terrence Hill Jr 6'3" | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State #183 Nation OR (2024 Roosevelt)
It could be cliche to say freshmen point guards like Hill don’t come around often – after all Jackson Shelstad Jackson Shelstad 6'0" | PG West Linn | 2023 State #55 Nation OR was a freshman last year – but there’s no question the 6-foot-2 first-year guy is special. He’s been taking on more of a scoring role too lately, using his ability to hit from deep in a big way – against Forest Grove he sank eight from distance. HE did this while leading the offense and spearheading the press on D.
Moroni Seely-Roberts Moroni Seely-Roberts 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Yamhill-Carlton)
It’s pretty clear that even though he’s only a sophomore, Seely-Roberts is a man amongst boys at the 3A level. Against Columbia Christian, he pretty much did whatever he wanted around the hoop in the first half and with the large score margin, he worked on some perimeter skills in the second half with his ball-handling and passing. We are excited to see him play against more high-level athletes this summer.
Malachi Seely-Roberts Malachi Seely-Roberts 6'8" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Yamhill-Carlton)
This Seely-Roberts twin may not post the super high scoring numbers, but he’s effective nonetheless as Yamhill-Carlton’s starting point guard. Against Columbia Christian he didn’t shoot as many long range bombs but did a great job initiating the offense and keeping the ball moving. In the second half, it switched up where he played down in the post where he showed that he has some legitimate scoring moves.
Alex Newkirk Alex Newkirk 6'1" | CG Oregon City | 2021 State OR (2021 Oregon City)
One of the greatest ascents this season from junior to senior year has been that of Newkirk, from a supporting cast member last season to main guy this year. The combo guard has averaged over 20 a game this year for the Pioneers and while he may have only finished with 17 against Milwaukie, he picked and chose his spots effectively and didn’t force the action. Newkirk has a very nice shooting touch, which will serve him well in Multnomah’s free-wheeling offense next season.
