Cameron Whitmore Cameron Whitmore 6'7" | PF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State #30 Nation MD | 6’8 | Archbishop Spalding/Team Melo
Ranking: No. 1
Whitmore retains the top spot in our rankings after an impressive high school campaign where he took home BCL Player of the Year honors in a shortened season. His versatility, athleticism and improved skillset were on full display and carried over into the spring with Team Melo, where high majors got to see just how explosive of an athlete Whitmore is. The offers have been flowing in since and so far in July he has visited Maryland, Pittsburgh and Penn State with Villanova and Illinois still planned for a later date.
Christian Winborne Christian Winborne 6'2" | CG Gilman | 2022 State #199 Nation MD | 6’3 | Gilman/Team Thrill
Ranking: No. 6
Winborne had a steady high school season from a scoring standpoint averaging a shade under 25 points per game. His body has improved as has his aggression and ability to take over games when called upon. He has to act as the primary scorer for this high school team, but this spring and summer he takes over as the floor general for Team Thrill by acting more as a facilitator who picks his spots throughout games. Winborne has held his own going against some of the top guard in the country and that’s why the likes of Northwestern, Harvard, Penn, VCU, Rutgers and Virginia Tech are all involved.
Tyson Commander Tyson Commander 6'4" | SG The John Carroll School | 2022 State #203 Nation MD | 6’4 | John Carroll/Team Melo
Ranking: No. 8
Commander was instrumental in helping lead John Carroll to a BCL Title as they took down undefeated and nationally ranked St. Frances. The 6-foot-4 lefty sniper is starting to use his improved athleticism on a regular basis while developing more of a mean streak along the way, which was needed. He isn’t expected to do much off the bounce for Team Melo, but has thrived in his role of a floor spacer and a guy who’s capable of knocking down three or more triples a game. Robert Morris and Iona are the latest programs to extend offers.
Cesar Tchilombo Cesar Tchilombo 6'9" | C John Carroll | 2022 State MD | 6’8 | John Carroll/Global Squad
Ranking: No. 10
There is a serious lack of bigs in the class, but Tchilombo is emerging as one of the more dependable prospects at his position simply because of his effort level. He’s an enforcer defensively who can alter shots and control the backboard throughout the course of a game. He still needs to become more discipline with fouling, but did improve in that sense somewhat this high school season. Offensively, he’s effective in operating on the block, improving in face-up scenarios and is a willing passer with good vision when double-teams come his way. Siena, Mount St. Mary’s and Howard have all offered.
Deon Perry Deon Perry 5'8" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2022 State MD | 5’9 | Mt. Carmel/Team Melo
Ranking: No. 14
Perry was a force this high school season for Mt. Carmel and had complete control of their offense, which proved to be pretty effective throughout the season. He can operate in about any situation imaginable and with his ability to hit shots well beyond the three-point line, guarding Perry is quite the ask for any defender. His quick burst, shifty array of moves and feel for how to get to his spots add to that difficulty. Perry is an active defender on and off the ball who’s always trying to cause deflection, pick up offensive fouls and apply constant pressure to the opposition. A few low majors are watching Perry closely, but haven’t extended official offers to this point.
Gavin Walsh Gavin Walsh 6'7" | PF Loyola Blakefield | 2022 State MD | 6’7 | Loyola/Team Melo
Ranking: No. 15
The talk around Walsh is the question of whether he’s reclassing to 2023 or not. From what he’s told me, he will play out this season at Loyola, remaining in 2022 and then assess what his offers look like before making a final decision. He plays with Team Melo 16U where he’s asserting his size and strength especially on his looks around the basket. Walsh won the BCL Most Improved Player of the Year award this past season and will be counted on to produce at a high level this season for the Dons as a primary option.
Bryce Lindsay Bryce Lindsay 6'2" | CG St. Frances | 2022 State MD | 6’3 | Poly/Team Melo
Ranking: No. 18
Lindsay was deprived of a high school season this winter and decided to rejoin Team Melo for this spring and summer on the EYBL Circuit. The 6-foot-3 sharpshooter is handling much of the ball-handling duties and continues to adapt to the roles that come with being a floor general. In my opinion, he’s still more comfortable at his natural position which is an off-guard who can demand the defense’s full attention coming off screens or playing off teammate’s penetration. Lindsay just completed a visit to Pittsburgh, where they extended an offer as a few other Big East and A-10 programs continue to keep close tabs on him.
Adam Walden Adam Walden 6'9" | C Baltimore Polytechnic | 2022 MD | 6’9 | Team Choo
Ranking: No. 24
As stated earlier, this class is starving for any true center prospects and getting to see Walden this spring gave reason to consider him as a top-25 prospect for these rankings. First and foremost he has great size at 6-foot-9 and knows how to use his strength when battling other bigs in the paint. He’s a coachable player who is willing to fill whatever role his team needs while giving maximum effort in doing so. The biggest obstacle with Walden is confidence. When he’s playing confidently and with an edge to him, you see the potential that he has and become intrigued. Mount St. Mary’s, Bryant, Siena and Hofstra have all offered, which I believe is the accurate level for Walden as you project what he can become.
