This high-level setting was designed to evaluate and provide exposure to under-the-radar prospects. All games were live-streamed and included official stats. The highlight of the tournament was the play of the Point Guards. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Floor Generals from the event.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 PG Las Vegas 2022 (#2PHN 2022) – Once again Jackson showed new elements to his game. He played above the rim, while also showing off some advanced passing skills. Jackson did a great job of grabbing boards, and then hitting teammates in stride with long touchdown-like passes.
Nate Simon 5’11 D1 Southern California 2023 – Simon showed a slick handle. The 5’11 PG used a ton of COD’s to free himself from defenders, including behind the back and between the legs dribbles. His wiggle was nice, and he displayed the ability to distribute the ball off the bounce.
Dominic Washington Dominic Washington 5'9" | PG Green Valley | 2022 State NV 5’8 Desert Valley Prep 2022 – Washington was one of two floor generals for a loaded Desert Valley Prep squad. He defended, changed the tempo, and managed to knock down shots when left open.
Nakalya Fabello Nakalya Fabello 5'10" | PG Valley | 2023 State NV 6’0 Verdict 203 (#12PHN 2022) (featured image) – The best way for me to describe Fabello is winner. He does all the little things that don’t show up in the box scores. He also does some that do, like making beautiful passes that lead to buckets for teammates. He managed to grab his share of hard-nosed rebounds as well, helping Verdict reach the Semifinals.
Jaycob McBath Jaycob McBath 6'0" | PG Skyline Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’0 Desert Valley Prep 2022 (#9PHN 2022) – McBath has looked terrific the last few times I’ve seen him play. This weekend was no different. The PG played with the assured confidence of a player finally realizing he’s the best player on the floor. He got into the lane at will, burying both mid-range and 3 point shots, en route to being named the MVP of the Gold Bracket.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’0 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#8PHN 2024) – Adem moved up a couple of notches in my book this weekend. His toughness was on display, as he seemed to be battling a nagging injury right from the opening day. However, he battled through, all the way to the Championship game, coming up big for the eventual Platinum Bracket Champs. Late in the Championship game, he got a tip-in and knocked down two clutch Ft’s to seal the deal. He was named the MVP of the Platinum Bracket.
