The purpose of this event is to provide a high-level setting to evaluate and provide exposure to under-the-radar prospects. All games will be live-streamed on the 7outz Channel, games will include official stats, and all players will have the opportunity to record official measurements, including heights, wingspan, and vertical jump. With the new rankings only a few weeks away, several participants have much to gain from a solid performance this weekend. In this article, we take a look at the players with the Most To Gain from the Territorial Classic.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 PG Las Vegas (#2PHN 2022) – The number #2 ranked player in our class of 2022 will be taking the floor. He’s been tearing it up for Hard to Guard this Spring, and now he gets a chance to lead his high school squad. The kid has major handles and may be pound for pound the best rebounding guard in the State. The new rankings come out in a few weeks, and the number 1 spot is still up for grabs, Jackson could put his hat in the ring with a championship performance this weekend.
Carter Lankford 6’4 SG D1 So Cal 2022 – This will be my first look at Lankford in over a year. I remember him as a gritty backcourt defender, capable of scoring off dribble drives. After a year of no bball, I’m looking forward to seeing how the So Cal native performs.
Joshua Speirs Joshua Speirs 6'2" | SG Uintah | 2022 State UT 6’2 SG Uintah 2022 – I’m excited to watch Speirs play. The 6’2 SG is coming off a season where he led the Utes in scoring. He has a ton to gain, simply because this will be my first impression of him. One of the great things about the Territorial Classic is that the setting provides an opportunity for players to compete under pressure. Playing well, under these conditions would go a long way to making that first impression a positive one.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#8PHN 2024) (featured image) – I like winners and Adem is a flat-out winner. While Chosen Few may not be a name-brand program, they sure do take home a lot of trophies. This is a young and talented team full of prospects, however, they will only go as far as Adem can carry them. Some huge matchups are out in front of him, and I’ve seen this kid come up big in Championship games before. Let’s face it, the 2024 class is absolutely loaded, however, a quality performance from him in this event may be too good to ignore.
LJ Mercurius LJ Mercurius 6'3" | SF Faith Lutheran | 2023 State NV 6’3 SF Meadows 2023 (#34PHN 2023) – Mercurius is a multi-sport athlete, with good R&J ability. I haven’t seen him and a while, and what I’m most interested in is, does he look the part yet? While his skills are still raw, his ability to run the floor, and make plays around the rim will be vital for Meadows to advance.
