This high-level setting was designed to evaluate and provide exposure to under-the-radar prospects. All games are live-streamed and include official stats. This tournament featured 3 pool games which determined seeding in bracket play. In this article, we take a look at the standouts from the Pool Play Action.
Desean Moreno Desean Moreno 6'4" | PF Spring Valley | 2022 State NV 6’4 SF Chosen Few 2022 (#58PHN 2022) – Moreno was solid during pool play, helping CF to a 2-1 record. The high-flying forward scored in transition and provided crucial rebounding for his squad. He averaged just under 9 a game, with his best game being a 15 point, 10 rebound performance against GBE.
Mason Mich’l Mason Mich’l 6'7" | PF Desert Oasis | 2021 State NV 6’7 PF South Phoenix 2021 – Mich’l definitely qualifies as one of the standouts from the weekend. The PF has shown some good ball skills and athletic ability en route to helping SP to a 2-1 pool play record. He had a monster 26 -9 game vs Miners, including the highlight dunk of the tournament.
Brandon Enriquez Brandon Enriquez 6'6" | C Shadow Ridge | 2022 State NV 6’6 C Pride 2022 (#26PHN 2022) – Enriquez has been the defensive anchor for a surprising Pride squad. Each player has been tied together, with the 6’6 5 man providing backline support. He’s protected the rim, and rebounded at a high level, en route to leading Pride to a first-place finish in Pool B. His 11 point 7 rebound performance against the Utah Sharks, was the catalyst in helping his team secure the top spot in the pool.
Kevan Wilkins 6’2 SG Verdict 2025 (featured image) – Glad I got to see Wilkins, the timing is perfect as I will be starting my 2025 watch list and he definitely will be on it. The smooth-scoring guard showed maturity well beyond his years, helping his Verdict squad to a 3-0 pool play record. He shoots it and has the ability to create for himself. His best game was a 14 point effort against Miners.
Nate Simon 6’0 CG D1 So Cal 2023 – I knew Simon could score the ball. What was most impressive about him, was his unselfishness, vision, and passing accuracy. Simon was good, delivering the ball off the bounce, setting up several teammates for easy buckets. D1 has cruised to a 3-0 record and he has been one of the main catalysts.
Jake Bevacqua Jake Bevacqua 5'10" | PG The Meadows School | 2023 State NV 5’10 PG Meadows 2023 (#21PHN 2023) – Sometimes you can’t help but root for a kid. Bevacqua was a top 10 player in his class a few years ago but suffered several nagging injuries. Instead of pouting, he worked, and this weekend he has flashed glimpses of that talent. He’s played with great pace, using his patent hesitation ability, to freeze defenders. What he didn’t lose over the course of the past year, was his strap. The 5’10 PG has been automatic when left open burring 3’s at a ridiculous clip. Despite being one of the smaller programs, Meadows has been in every game and is still alive in the Gold bracket Semis, thanks in large part, to the play of Bevacqua.
