Here are a few Wichita wings and posts who might be in line for bigger roles next fall (in alphabetical order):
Andrea Baker, 6-foot-3, 2023, Wichita Magic, Wichita South HS:
A long and active wing, Baker makes a lot of athletic plays. He follows shots and converts a lot of buckets on misses. He has good hands in traffic and his explosiveness lets him make plays above the crowd. Baker runs the floor and is an effective ball handler in transition.
Paul Bloomer, 6-foot-4, 2024, Wichita Padres – Mocaby, Kapaun Mt. Carmel HS:
A powerful and physically developed post/wing for a rising sophomore, Bloomer is playing up with the Padres. He has a nice stroke from the midrange. He posts up and works in the lane, but he has accuracy out to the arc.
Michael Brown, 6-foot-5, 2023, Wichita Magic, Wichita Southeast HS:
Brown is a long and athletic big man. He intimidates in the lane and gets up to block shots at the rim. He thwarts drivers and swats shots by opposing posts. He is an effective passer from the lane, dumping the ball to open cutters and kicking it out to shooters.
John Hauserman, 6-foot-2, 2024, Wichita Padres – Kiem, Carroll HS:
Hauserman is a smooth guard/wing who handles the ball effectively full court. With his size and athleticism, he’s tough for guards to contain, but he’s too quick for many bigger players to slow down. When he takes the ball in the lane, he shows off a nice Euro-step and floater. At the defensive end, he has active hands and gets up to block shots. With Carroll graduating so many players, Hauserman has a chance to step in.
Dominic Shibley, 6-foot-3, 2023, Wichita Padres – Mocaby, Kapaun Mt. Carmel HS:
Shibley has the athleticism and skill to make plays with the ball from end to end. He is an impressive ball handler who makes some athletic takes to the hole. Shibley has a solid midrange jumper and can hit from the perimeter. He pulls down a lot of rebounds with his size, quickness and leaping ability.
