Last week Prep Hoops featured Wichita guards, wings and posts who can be considered summer risers.
Here are a few wings and bigs from the area around Wichita who might be in line for bigger roles next fall (in alphabetical order):
Caleb Brown Caleb Brown 6'3" | SF Derby | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, TBB KS, Derby:
Brown played a supporting role for a developing Derby club. The Panthers are flush with guards and will need someone with Brown’s length and versatility who can play inside. He gets after it on the defensive end, guarding on-ball and denying cutters and posts. He runs the floor hard and is athletic. He is a versatile big man comfortable on the perimeter and facing the goal.
Bryce Cassanova, 6-foot-2 forward, 2023, Wichita Padres-Mocaby, Derby:
Cassanova might bring something a little different to the guard-rich Panthers. He’s a long ball handler who can really shoot from deep. He can put the ball on the floor and penetrate, knocking down pull-ups and runners in traffic. He’s tough with the ball and has good size.
Chris Harris, 6-foot-6 forward, 2023, TBB KS, Andover:
Andover loses some studs from last year, but returns a ton of talent. Harris is a long wing who is effective in the lane. He’s a long lefty who can post up and dominate deep, or cut and move around the paint. Brown can also knock down shots from deep, showing off his versatility. He is a rim protector for TBB KS too.
Brady Ingram, 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, Wichita Padres-Kiem, Maize South:
Ingram is a wing with great vision. He makes quick, creative passes to teammates for open shots. He’s a high-quality shooter from the perimeter. Ingram is athletic and gets his hands involved at the defensive end.
Nate Purkey, 6-foot-2, forward, 2023, B2B Elite, Eisenhower:
Purkey is a big, solid guy who thrives in the lane. He’s agile for his size and dominates by posting up. Not surprising, he’s a football too, and has a mature, developed physique.
Wyatt Stover, 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, B2B Elite, Maize:
Maize was a great team last year, and they return a ton of that talent. But Stover was able to see a little bit of varsity action as a sophomore. He is powerful in the post who plays with rough intensity. He can face the goal and make strong moves. He contributes a ton on the boards and follows up a lot of misses at the offensive end.
