Summer AAU: 2024 Guards To Watch
In this article:
With summer AAU ball making it’s epic return and coaches coming out in full force, our prospects will have plenty of opportunities to show what they are capable of. Here, we take a look at 10 guards from our 2024 class to watch for.
Lyna Brooks Lyna Brooks 6'3" | CG Saginaw Arthur Hill | 2024 State MI – 6’4 PG/SG – Franklin Central – Indy Heat EYBL 2024: Brooks is a player that you can just tell he is always going to have a lot of eyes on him. Bigger guard already at his age and playes with a ton of confidence and maturity. Knows how to use his wider frame and strength well. Keep a close eye on Brooks because this guy is legit.
Isaac Andrews Isaac Andrews 6'1" | SG Wapahani | 2024 State IN – 6’1 SG – Wapahani – Grand Park Premier 2024 Red: Andrews was arguably one of the toughest overall players that I saw this spring. He is a shorter lead guard that already has a ton of skill and can score the ball at all three levels. Size is not really factor as of yet but if he grows some more he is going to be a tough one to stop even more. Andrews is trending in the right direction heading into the summer.
Cam Reich Cam Reich 6'1" | SG Speedway | 2024 State IN – 6’0 PG – Brownsburg – Indy Heat Red 2024: Reich is a taller lead guard that plays fast and is very energetic. Real balanced game already and can be a tough perimeter defender at times. Not overly strong right now but still pretty aggressive. Reich will be an interesting one to watch as far as his long term development.
Dorien Beatty Dorien Beatty 5'10" | PG Lake Central | 2024 IN – 5’10 PG – Lake Central – Indiana Game Premier 2024: Beatty is a shorter but quick lead guard with a little bit of flash to his game. Handles the ball very well and can get his defender off balance at times. His smaller size is a little bit of factor at the moment but a growth spurt soon will really help that out. He has got the skill right now, however.
Kieran Tewari Kieran Tewari 6'2" | SG Yorktown | 2024 State IN – 6’1 SG – Yorktown – Gym Rats Black 2024: Tewari was a player that stood out with me from the start. Tall, lanky 2G that plays with a ton of energy. Not the strongest of players but does compete hard. Solid 15ft and out shooter that should impress this summer.
Andrew Pliett Andrew Pliett 5'8" | PG Churubusco | 2024 IN – 5’8 PG – Churubusco – Indiana Elite Focus 2024: Even though Pliett may be a smaller lead guard, the guy has incredible basketball IQ already. Real quick and is a smooth finisher around the rim. Has a ton of scrappiness to him and defends well. Don’t know if the smaller size will be an issue long term but right now he is making up for it.
Nolan Swan Nolan Swan 5'10" | PG Tipton | 2024 State IN – 5’10 PG – Tipton – Grand Park Premier 2024: Swan is a smaller lead guard that plays like a lead guard should. He only tries to score if he necessarily has to but does an outstanding job in setting up his teammates first before anything. Pretty active on both ends of the floor and is always going to find ways to make plays. Swan is very good already and should be in for a big summer.
Ajani Washington Ajani Washington 6'2" | SG New Haven | 2024 State IN – 6’2 PG/SG – Fort Wayne Concordia – Indy Heat EYBL 2024: Washington is a combo guard with lankiness and quick speed. Drives the ball very well and is good enough to either finish and/or kick it out for the open look. Came off the bench for Lyna Brooks Lyna Brooks 6'3" | CG Saginaw Arthur Hill | 2024 State MI this spring but when he was on the court, he was contributing at a high level. Needs to add size but is playing at a very good level right now.
Keron Billingsley Keron Billingsley 5'11" | PG Snider | 2024 IN – 5’11 PG – Fort Wayne Snider – Gym Rats Black 2024: Billingsley was a lead guard that flew under-the-radar a little bit this spring. This player was really impressive and was one of the more aggressive lead guards I saw. Plays more like a true lead guard at the moment but I am curious to see if he has an outside game or not. This lead guard should continue to rise.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN – 6’2 PG/SG – Avon – INB 2024 Platinum: Lomax was a player that was talked about heavily this spring. He is a combo guard that is very skilled and can mix it up a little bit on the offense. Very athletic and handles pressure well. Watch out for the guy this summer because he is guy that you will be hearing for years to come.
