Part 1 highlighting some standouts:
Stephen Lewis Stephen Lewis 6'2" | SG Stephenson | 2022 State GA , 6-2, SG, Stephenson, 2022 (pictured above)
Continues to impress whether it’s at a Showcase or playing for the Atlanta Astros on the grassroots scene, incredible athlete with such lift he can make the highlight-reel play with a dunk or block or just straight up lock you up on the defensive end as one of the better on-ball defenders I’ve seen this offseason, the jumper is underrated and has room to become a bigger weapon but it’s his work around the basket as a finisher and slasher that define his offensive strengths.
Jahmeir Chapman, 5-11, PG, Osborne, 2022
Another week, another strong performance from this emerging PG talent, such burst and quickness with the ball he gets 2 or 3 eye-catching blow-bys per game, with that burst comes a clever finishing game at the basket that makes him a real must-see as a penetrating guard, can seriously defend the ball as well with that foot speed and sees and cuts off passing lanes well, certainly a player in the ATL-metro on the come.
Alahn Sumler, 6-3, SG, Buford, 2022
With what should be a really strong Buford team this year Sumler is one to watch, as sweet a 3-point shooting stroke as there was on hand, he gets it off quickly and splashes them with easy-looking regularity, good size allows him to shoot over smaller defenders as well as use his good ballhandling to get into the teeth and be a factor off the bounce, really impressive day for him.
Tomiwa Adetosoye Tomiwa Adetosoye 6'2" | CG Chattahoochee | 2022 State GA , 6-4, CG, Chattahoochee, 2022
It’ll be Adetosoye’s team at Hooch along with slick guard Jordan Brown Jordan Brown 6'1" | CG Pebblebrook | 2022 State GA this fall, and we’re now beginning to see him remove the shackles and show off the multitude of talents at his disposal, the confidence and maturity have grown to the point where he has the look of someone who can get what he wants offensively whenever he wants it – as a downhill driver, knocking them down from multiple ranges, on the offensive glass – and we can’t sleep on his exceptional defense be it on the ball or dropping down and guarding a post-man, look for big things here.
Kasheem Grady Kasheem Grady 6'5" | SG Mt. Pisgah | 2021 State GA , 6-5, SG, Mount Pisgah, 2022
There isn’t a ton I need to write that isn’t already known about this highly skilled SG and event headliner, looks the part of a big-time scorer every time he touches it, soft touch from all ranges and shoots it at a high lip up to 3 or 4 steps past the arc, a great frame allows him to drive it with authority and finish through contact, rebounds like a 4-man and can guard the whole floor if asked, as the feature man for defending state champion Pisgah this fall he’ll be something to watch and draw eyeballs from mid to potentially high D1 majors.
Jameel Rideout Jameel Rideout 6'2" | PG Berkmar | 2022 State GA , 6-2, PG, Berkmar, 2022
Another of the headliners on hand for the Showcase, Rideout has been steadily making his way to the top of the PG hierarchy here in the state and the progress is still moving upward, such confidence combined with both natural gifts and the results of hard work showing in his floor leadership, scoring acumen and defending, keeps an even keel and shows great control even when pushing pace, a complete package for D1 teams to be wise to with a great attitude and motor at the lead guard, it’ll be great fun watching him direct what will be a monster Patriots team next fall.
Robert Dix Robert Dix 6'6" | SF TSF Prep | 2022 State GA , 6-6, SF, South Cobb (last season), 2022
Probably deserved a higher move in our rankings as he’s put together a terrific summer for Georgia Legacy, has showed off more consistently the tantalizing things I’ve been writing about for nearly 2 years now, he can play for me any day of the week with the – great frame, multi-level scoring that continues to evolve, versatile defense at 6-6 means he can guard 4 spots easily, doesn’t get enough credit for his athletic ability in my view because his game is so classicly sound and polished he doesn’t have to make the highlight-reel play to be deadly effective, mid to high majors will be wise to spend some extra time in gyms with Dix playing.
Autrey Barnes Autrey Barnes 6'4" | SF Grady | 2022 State GA , 6-5, SG, Grady-Midtown, 2022
I’ve personally been a Barnes fan since the first time I saw him play for HYPE in the summer of 2020, the length is notable because it allows him to be such a factor on the glass from the guard position and he uses it together with his great lift off the deck to be a factor above the rim at both ends, naturally that length allows for defensive versatility as well, just has a knack for putting the ball in the hole and while the jump shot takes some criticism his consistent scoring numbers both at Grady and in summer ball belie that assessment, think he can be real sleeper for a D2 or D3 program at the next level.
