I saw many teams I have never seen before from different states along with some local teams.
Here were some local 2023-2025 standouts:
Noah Amenhauser Noah Amenhauser 7'0" | C Estrella Foothills | 2023 State #270 Nation AZ Estrella Foothills
-A good showing for the big man. His coordination is slowly improving for the massive post player. He is patient in the post and goes to work. He uses the drop step and his post moves keep improving. He has a nice touch on his FT shooting and can shoot it to the 3pt line. He is a surprisingly good passer from the high post and always seems to convert on the high-low action.
Cody Williams Cody Williams 6'8" | SF Perry | 2023 State #25 Nation AZ Perry
-A long and lean point forward type. He is just coming back from a groin injury from over a month and he actually turned his ankle two times during the weekend and kept on playing and producing. He made some deep 3’s, drove the lane and handled the ball often. He plays a smart floor game and he defends multiple positions from inside and out using his unusual length.
Mark Brown Jr Mark Brown Jr 6'2" | PG Bella Vista Prep | 2023 State AZ Mountain Pointe
-A fast and strong scoring lead guard. He showed he plays fast and can think fast. He made a few incredible passes that threaded the needle in key moments. He can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble plus drive the lane with his burst.
Isaiah Kai Isaiah Kai 6'2" | PG Campo Verde | 2023 State AZ Campo Verde
-A scoring PG with an impressive pull-up from mid-range with great elevation. He changes speeds well and he will hesi then blow by his defender and kick a pass into a teammates shooting pocket. He is shifty, quick, confident and the Coyotes could be a sleeper 5A team led by Kai.
Erenzo Scroggins Erenzo Scroggins 6'4" | SF AZ Compass Prep Black | 2023 State AZ McClintock
-A strong and powerful wing forward showed some new wrinkles to his game. He handled the ball more and drove and played a little play-maker role for the Chargers. He showed off his usual bounce on the break and scored it through contact getting downhill.
Anthony Batson Jr Anthony Batson Jr 6'3" | SG Notre Dame Prep | 2024 State #181 Nation AZ NDP
-An athletic scoring guard had a good weekend. He can shoot it from the 3pt line, get to the basket and is a sneaky good passer. He is very strong in the lane and can finish off tough shots in traffic using his left or right hand.
Koa Peat Koa Peat 6'8" | PF Perry | 2025 State #6 Nation AZ Perry
-A skilled bigger wing has many traits to like for an incoming freshman. He has great size, can handle the rock like a guard, can make plays for teammates and score it. He can rip though, hit the catch-3 and is a plus athlete to throw it down on the break. He also rebounds the ball well and took some charges along the way. He earned 8 Division-1 offers the first Section-7 event.
