Continue ReadingPH was in the gym for the Sand Dune Showcase at Saint Ignatius High School in San Francisco Ca. There was a good number prospects in the class of 2023 who stood out at this event. Here’s our second list of standouts in this class who we thought played good.
Theo Stoll 5’8 PG of Acalanes 2023
Stoll was impressive running the teams offense. He made good decisions throughout the 2 day event. He’s a good ball handler, with good vision and passing skills. He found shooters ready to shoot, cutters headed towards the basket, and often found his big man with good post entry passes. He uses floaters, and pull up jumper to get his points, and will knock down an open 3ptr. He’s on our Watch List.
Austin Dewes 6’9 W/F of Alhambra HS 2023
Dewes is a long slender player with a good frame, he needs to get stronger. At 6’9 he has the height, and some tools to work with. He starts out inside where his length will get him buckets inside. He has a decent touch around the rim but needs to finish more often. He worked his way to the perimeter where he looked a little bit more comfortable. He had a couple 2 dribble drives into the lane, and showed he could put up shots from the 3. We’ll see more of him.
Billy Haggerty 6’6 W/F of De La Salle HS 2023
Haggerty is long and fairly active. He gets up and down the court pretty good, and he’ll bring it up at times. He has a good shot from mid-range, and uses a turnaround jumper in the post. He works along the perimeter and will shoot the 3pt shot if open. His length on defense can effect shooters on the wings.
Jack King 6’5 Forward of De La Salle HS 2023
King caught our attention with his voice on the defensive side of the ball. He was in constant chatter, help left, help right! quite noticeable. He’s a solid body player with an improving skill set. The lefty can hit the corner 3 when he gets into a rhythm. He’s active setting screens, working to get rebounds. He has good intensity on the court. He’s on the Watch List.
Drew Dorwin 5’10 Guard of Half Moon Bay HS 2023
Dorwin is a strong, tough minded guard who plays hard all the time. He’s a court runner going up, and down with or without the ball. He’s a good handler in the open court, and is a threat to score in transition or on the wings. He had nice strong drives to basket and will knock down jumpers at a good rate.
Kellen Torrey 5’9 CG of California HS 2023
Torrey is a good ball handler who plays with some urgency on the court. He looks to be a scorer with the ball in transition, and on the wings. He can run the offense but needs to be more patient up top, he’ll try to beat his defender working from the top. He has good energy on defense, and foot speed to defend on the ball.
Tyler Murphy 6’5 W/F/PF of Alhambra HS 2023
Murphy is a thick bodied player who works hard on the court. He has a decent skill set working out side and in. He’s aggressive attacking from the high post with a good jab step, he has a nice medium range jumper, and is aggressive inside putting up shots and working for rebounds.
Aidan Carlton 6’1 Guard of Serra HS 2023
A broad shouldered prospect who’s best days are ahead of him, when he learns to be more aggressive with the ball. He looks to have some tools to work with. He has good length, long arms, and some foot speed to be a good defender. His handles can use some polishing. Overall a good athlete. We’ll have to see more of him. He’s on the Watch List.
