There are 300 players ranked throughout the state of Pennsylvania. We work hard at creating exposure for the many high school basketball players deserving of an opportunity to play at the next level. Let’s take an in-depth look at the “stock risers” of this large group of student-athletes that have climbed the rankings due to their performance on the court this high school and AAU season.
#6) Horace Simmons Horace Simmons 6'6" | SF LaSalle CHS | 2022 State PA , (moved up 62 spots)
6’6 power forward, LaSalle College High School – This high-flyer plays above the rim and looks to get out on the break ending with thunderous slam dunks. He has the desire to rebound on both ends of the floor and protects the rim. Also, offensively his ability to slash from the wing and score, while consistently making mid-range jumpers cause problems for the defense. Horace moved up a significant amount of spots due to his excellent play this season.
#7) Khalil Horton, (moved up 29 spots)
6’8 wing forward, Cathedral Prep High School – Another player that has risen to the occasion not only in the rankings but on the court. His stock is on the upswing with division 1 recruitment from stellar play on the AAU circuit this spring and summer. This talented performer is a match-up nightmare for opponents and can do it all during a game. Khalil won a state championship in high school this season as well. Look for big things on the horizon for this young man.
#25) Kaleb Pryor Kaleb Pryor 5'10" | PG Gateway | 2023 State PA , (moved up 12 spots)
5’10, combo guard, Gateway High School – A high motor player that never stops “flying around” during a contest. Offensively he likes to take control of game situations and can play both guard positions. On defense, his tenacious effort causes havoc on the opponent with constant deflections and steals on the press of half-court set. Kaleb started this past season in high school and did extremely well for his team.
#32) Tasso Sfanos Tasso Sfanos 6'1" | PG Mars | 2023 State PA , (moved up 11 spots)
6’1 point guard, Mars High School – A quick, shifty guard that has the leadership to make his teammates around him better players. He looks to score when possible, but does like to distribute the ball in the half-court set. His perimeter accuracy is extremely consistent and can drive to the basketball as well. Tasso has a terrific knowledge of the game which makes him a coach on the floor with his team.
#40) Connor Spratt Connor Spratt 6'3" | PG Seton LaSalle | 2023 State PA , (moved up 10 spots)
6’1 point guard, Peters Township High School – He is a high IQ player that is a leader on the floor and understands the game while being able to adapt to any game situation. His ability to handle the ball within the half-court set or in transition makes him difficult to guard during a contest. Also with his defensive skill set, Connor creates havoc for opponents utilizing above-average footwork and quick hands to get steals or deflections.
#42) Ian Herring, (moved up 12 spots)
6’3 wing forward, Quaker Valley High School – This long, lanky wing forward can handle the ball when recognizing mismatches in the half-court offense while having the ability to fill up the stat sheet with floaters in the lane. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor and looks to get out in transition with finishes at the basket. Not only does Ian continue to grow physically, but his game is taking off to a whole new level this spring/summer.
#45) Sam Kelly Sam Kelly 6'5" | PF Allderdice | 2023 State PA , (moved up 11 spots)
6’5 power forward, Allderdice High School – A skilled big man that has the ability and footwork to score in the post, while being able to step out and make mid-range jump shots. On the defensive end of the floor, he protects the rim with his shot-blocking skill and rebounds extremely well. Sam is a consummate team player that with does all the little things to help his guards get free in the half-court set and looks to be a leader throughout a contest.
#47) Michael Pfeuffer Michael Pfeuffer 6'2" | CG Mt. Lebanon | 2023 State PA , (moved up 11 spots)
6’1 shooting guard, Mt. Lebanon High School – The shooting ability of this guard creates problems for the defense due to his quick release during a game. Whether coming off screens or pulling up in transition, he consistently can score the basketball for his team. Also, with his improved ball-handling, he looks to run the offense as well. Michael is a starting guard for a talented AAU team, Mason Elite from the Pittsburgh area.
#61) Dre Vacich Dre Vacich 6'0" | CG Central Valley | 2023 State PA , (moved up 10 spots)
5’11 shooting guard, Central Valley High School – This quick guard likes to push the ball up the floor in transition and looks for fast-break baskets for his teammates. He shoots very well from the perimeter, either long-distance three-pointers or crafty finishes in the lane. On the defensive end of the court, his hustle and effort distract opponents from running their plays at times. Dre has worked hard to develop his game in recent years.
#65) Rocco Spadafora Rocco Spadafora 6'0" | SG OLSH | 2023 State PA , (moved up 33 spots)
5’11 combo guard, OLSH High School – An under-rated player that burst on the scene this season while being a part of a WPIAL and State Championship team. He has developed his ball-handling skills to help run the offense, while consistently having the ability to knock down perimeter jumpers. He has the speed and agility to get up the floor in transition with or without the ball in his hands. Look for Rocco to continue developing his game this summer.
These players made a significant jump in our rankings and with their continued strong play look for them to continue to move up more spots in the next few months.
