Let’s jump into who is making headlines this June…
Caelum Ethridge Caelum Ethridge 6'3" | SG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL – Pembroke Pines Charter
2022 Caelum Ethridge Caelum Ethridge 6'3" | SG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL made the most his time at the GBCA live event this week. The 6-foot-5 guard was one of the top scorers after averaging 18.5 points across four games. Against Sandy Creek, he poured in 24 points and hit six 3-pointers. While having a deadly outside shot, Ethridge has turned himself into a three-level scorer thanks to his size. He is much more capable of getting to the rim and finishing with his added muscle. On the flip side, he can guard multiple positions because of it. His recent offers from Catawba and Brandeis should jump start his recruitment. Ethridge averaged 13.3 points per game for the Jaguars last season and helped the team to the Class 5A championship. His high school teammate, 2022 Geoffrey Sprouse Geoffrey Sprouse 5'11" | CG Pines Charter | 2022 State FL , also averaged 16.5 points across four games during the event.
Kolby King Kolby King 6'2" | PG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL – Pembroke Pines Charter
I want to give 2022 Kolby King Kolby King 6'2" | PG Pembroke Pines | 2022 State FL his own plug after picking up four tremendous offers recently. The 6-foot-2 guard drew the attention of Texas Tech, FIU, Georgia Southern and St. John’s. King scored 17 points and hit three 3-pointers against Sandy Creek at the GBCA. His ability to control the floor is apparent whether he is scoring or assisting. I am also a big fan of King as rebounding guard. King scored a season-high 27 points in the Jaguars state title game against Choctawhatchee. He might be playing some of his best basketball over the past several months.
Maximus Fuentes Maximus Fuentes 6'2" | CG North Broward Prep | 2022 State FL – North Broward Prep
2022 Maximus Fuentes Maximus Fuentes 6'2" | CG North Broward Prep | 2022 State FL has been a prospect I have liked since I started watching him play. The 6-foot-2 combo guard scored 15 points against Pace Academy at the GBCA event. I also watched some tape on him at the Florida State camp where he scored inside and out. Fuentes was able to use his size to get to the rim effectively. In addition, I thought his vision was on point from the top of the key as he made tremendous passes. His 6-foot-9 wingspan might have something to do with his ability to assist in tight windows. Fuentes averaged 12.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the floor last season. Moreover, he helped North Broward Prep finish 14-7 on a very tough schedule. I think his skill and academic standing (3.7 GPA) is worthy of a spot somewhere.
Matthew Cadogan Matthew Cadogan 6'5" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL – St. Thomas Aquinas
2022 Matthew Cadogan Matthew Cadogan 6'5" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL is a player that should continue to improve alongside classmate Andrew Akuchie Andrew Akuchie 6'8" | PF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL . He is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard that can knock down outside baskets or use his length to attack the rim. I think Cadogan can put on more size and develop more of a mid-range game. He really excels in transition and can elevate at the basket. That is why I feel he is at the very least a D-2 player. He holds a 4.3 GPA so no need to question his academics.
