The class features several talented point guards. In this article we breakdown the top Floor Generals in the class of 2022.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'2" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 State NV 6’1 Las Vegas #2 – Jackson is a throwback PG with new school game. He has the ball on a string, using one of the best handles on the West Coast to get anywhere he wants on the floor. He can make you pay if left open and finishes well off drives and in transition. Perhaps his most unique skill is his ability to rebound the basketball and start the break.
Jaycob McBath Jaycob McBath 6'0" | PG Skyline Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’0 Desert Valley Prep #9 – McBath is a scoring PG, with a nice offensive package. He plays P&R basketball well, can knock down the open 3 and, has an advanced mid-range game. McBath has also had success against top competition, playing against the likes of Wasatch Academy, and at individual camps like Pangos.
Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 5'10" | PG Durango | 2022 NV 5’10 Durango #11 – Arguably the fastest player with the ball in his hand in the state. Johnson is a lighting quick PG that puts tremendous pressure on defenses with his speed. He is also one of the top on-ball defenders, known for harassing players full court.
Damion Byrd Damion Byrd 5'10" | PG Silverado | 2022 State NV 5’10 Silverado #13 (featured image) – A terrific on-ball defender, that makes players around him better with his offensive skills. Byrd is at his best when penetrating and creating for his teammates. He’s also transformed himself into a player capable of knocking down the open 3.
Anthony Pittman Anthony Pittman 6'0" | PG Bishop Gorman | 2022 State NV 6’0 Bishop Gorman #31 – The BG PG doesn’t get enough credit for his skills. He has good penetration ability and is able to create for himself. Pittman also possesses good speed and quickness, allowing him to get out and score in transition. His best trait is his ability to lock down opposing ballhandlers.
Jacques Williams Jr Jacques Williams Jr 5'9" | PG Arbor View | 2022 NV 5’9 Arbor View #35 – Williams was one of the players I really wanted to see play Varsity last season. The PG is similar to many on this list, in that he is a terrific on-ball defender. Willams’s ability to lock up opposing ballhandlers makes him a necessity on the floor. Two years ago he was the main guy on a very good Arbor View JV squad and was poised to step into that role for Varsity, in his Junior Season. As it is he has improved his outside shooting and has a chance to continue to see his stock rise.
