A payer with Porter’s iQ, athleticism and size is rare.
The 6-foot-10 forward does it all for MPJ Elite as he displayed last weekend in Kansas City. A Uniquely gifted scorer, he habitually exercised his talents from each level. Porter did well establishing leverage in the post while maintaining the threat of numerous maneuvers.
He also cashed in on a few quick strikes from the mid-range, establishing the high interior for him to further exploit later. Most notably, perhaps, was his efficiency from 3-point range. His height certainly didn’t hurt as he launched triples above the reaching hands of opposing defenders.
As impressive as any quality Porter has in his bag, however, is his vision for the floor. Porter sees and feels the game rapidly, and he can read the floor and apply his acquaintance with his teammates’ tendencies to the game in real time to distribute the ball. This allows Porter and his crew to exploit gaps in defensive play or mental mistakes to acquire, often, just enough space to score.
Jalen Hampton Jalen Hampton 6'7" | PF Link Year | 2022 MO | MPJ Elite |
6’7” SF | Link Year Prep (MO) ’22 |
The springy wing has exceptional body control, paired with a catalog of deadly scoring maneuvers.
Hampton utilizes his speed and footwork to get to the rack from the wing or corner, admittedly with some ease against the field of competition from the Classic.
He rises, not only to the rim, but often above it through traffic to notch buckets, and thanks partially to MPJ Elite’s defensive excellence, he can string together personal scoring runs, such as he did in the last game of the weekend against Tulsa Hawks.
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK | Tulsa Hawks |
6’4” SG | Bixby (OK) ’23 |
Friedrichsen torched opposing teams on a routine basis in Kansas City, especially from the 3-point line.
In a 38-point game, Friedrichsen netted on 9-of-16 triples for Hawks in the second of a trio of excellent performances against out-of-state teams.
The sophomore is the whole package from the perimeter. He can create his own shot, can score from the catch, and he does it all quite efficiently with a quick strike.
On that note, it might be his consistency that is so impressive to spectators, myself included. Each weekend, each game, the slender sharpshooter fills up the stat sheet and rarely goes cold. Perhaps it’s the same precision he showcases on Bixby’s golf team that he brings over to the circuit each weekend.
Jaron Briggs Jaron Briggs 6'4" | CG Piper | 2022 State KS Jr. | KC Spurs |
6’3″ F | Piper (KS) ’22 |
It wasn’t a bad start to the weekend for Briggs after he knocked down a game-winning buzzer-beater to lift the Spurs past the Hawks.
After that, the attack-minded forward got busy in a variety of fashions on both ends of the floor. Briggs Jr. is a stout, strong athlete with speed and power, which allows him to defend at a high level as he adheres to shifty guards and powerful bigs alike, given the circumstances.
Offensively, he displayed his dynamic skill, finishing from the drive, battling in close-range shots and striking from the mid-range. Briggs Jr. is also a notable rebounder on both ends of the floor.
I’Ryan Allen I’Ryan Allen 6'2" | PG Ruskin | 2022 State MO | KC Spurs |
6’2″ G | Raymore Peculiar (MO) ’22 |
Allen is a really crafty, heady scorer.
One skill of his to note is his ability to get that crucial first step on defenders. It makes everything after much simpler. He has a smooth handle, can move well in either direction, finishes with either hand and can hit jumpers out of the dribble.
Another impressive skill of Allen’s is his ability to control and contort his body to convert on tricky shots at the rim, also displaying his ability to absorb contact and play aggressively with the ball.
D’Andre Titsworth D’Andre Titsworth 6'1" | SG Muskogee | 2022 OK | ABC Basketball |
6’0″ CG | Muskogee (OK) ’22 |
Titsworth capped off one of his best weekends to-date scoring 22-points-a-game and recording a triple-double in scoring, rebounds and steals to cap off his exceptional weekend.
Titsworth is a shifty, all-around guard who handles a heavy load for ABC. Of course, he’s a reliable scorer, often responsible for a hefty share of the scoring on a routine basis, but everything else he does — defending, rebounding and distributing the ball — really makes him the focal point of ABC’s success.
Though he is still without an offer, college programs, especially local schools, should continue to monitor the progress of this shifty guard.
