Here are some of the Top-100 returners in the area (in order of rank):
14 Nahcs Wahwassuck Nahcs Wahwassuck 6'5" | CG Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-5 combo guard, Royal Valley:
Word has it that Wahwassuck will play at a prep program in Missouri this season. His move will not only be a loss to Royal Valley, it will deprive northeast Kansans a chance to watch one of the most talented and entertaining guards in the high school ranks. He’s getting looks from a lot of schools, including Washburn University. So maybe he’ll return to the area. He’s long, athletic, and highly skilled.
30 Noah McCullough Noah McCullough 6'1" | CG Ottawa | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-1 combo guard, Ottawa:
McCullough earned honorable mention 4A, after averaging 15.3 points and 6.9 points as a junior. It was a big step forward for McCullough, who played with two top-flight senior leaders as a sophomore.
53 Howard Johnson Howard Johnson 6'0" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-1 shooting guard, Junction City (pictured):
Johnson is really impressive with SSA Hoops Elite this summer. He’s an athletic guard who can score in a lot of ways. He earned honorable mention 6A as a junior, despite missing a chunk of the season to injury. Prior to the injury, he poured in 25 points against Highland Park, 24 against Seaman, and 20 against Hayden. Now fully healthy, he will be one of the top guards in the area as a senior.
62 Jimmy Dorsey Jimmy Dorsey 6'6" | SG Wellsville | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-5 shooting guard, Wellsville:
Dorsey just joined the rankings in March, then made a pretty significant move up this summer. Dorsey is listed as a guard, but he’s a long athlete who can do just about everything for Wellsville. He exploded with a scoring flourish that led to third-team 3A honors last season. Dorsey averaged 19.6 points per contest, and had a bunch of high-scoring games.
67 Brayden Meseke Brayden Meseke 6'0" | CG Wabaunsee | 2022 State KS , 6-foot combo guard, Wabaunsee:
Meseke was really good all season for the Cinderella Chargers. But when playoff time came, he rose to another level. Particularly in the hard-fought 2A state championship, Meseke was brilliant. He scored 22 points – 15 in the second half – in a fight to the finish against Hillsboro. He’s athletic disruptive on defense, and can create good shots at the offensive end. He was accorded second-team 2A honors as a junior.
80 Drew Stutesman Drew Stutesman 6'2" | CG Madison | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-2 combo guard, Madison:
Stutesman received honorable mention 1A Div 1 last season. He loses his longtime running mate Chase Harrison Chase Harrison 6'1" | SG Madison | 2021 State KS to graduation. He is a long guard who can make plays in the lane or on the perimeter.
97 Terrence Tedder Jr Terrence Tedder Jr 6'0" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS , 6-foot shooting guard, Junction City:
Tedder shows so much in club action, it’s hard not to get really excited for what he will do at Junction City next year. Tedder can take over summer games. He’s ultra quick with the ball and can really get up and down. He’s a long guard who can knife through traffic at high speed to score in the lane. He’s also got a solid perimeter shot that keeps defenders honest.
