Below we will look at Friday’s Best Players:
Alex Proctor Alex Proctor 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 G| Fargo Davies – He ran the court hard today. Proctor had a few smooth finishes at the iron I like the fact that he can play above the rim. Alex is very bouncy and he is a fast-twitch player. If you like athletic players then you will love Alex!
Anthony Doppler Anthony Doppler 6'4" | SG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-4 G| Bismarck Century – He was the best player I watched play today. Doppler is a big guard with long arms. I liked his strength when finishing, this allowed him to make multiple AND 1 finishes. I watched him put down a mighty 1-handed wham in transition. I was very impressed with his pull-up jumper from behind the 3-point arc. When shooting he elevates well. Doppler can handle the ball expertly with many different moves. I loved the way he keeps his shoulders square to the basket when he is finishing, he uses his body perfectly. When shooting from NBA range, he makes it look effortless. Mr. Doppler left his mark on this team camp as the best player.
Carter Englund Carter Englund 6'7" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-7 F| Shiloh Christian – He looks like he has gained muscle and weight since March. Carter was very physical while rebounding today. He is an impressive athlete. I like how intense he was playing. He has a ton of energy. Englund is very long and he gets up the floor quickly. Carter is very good at producing buckets in the paint.
Connor Trahan Connor Trahan 6'5" | SG Bismarck Century | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 G| Bismarck Century – He is an excellent three-point shooter. Trahan has great feet and a clean shooting motion. He showed today that he is a hustler. Connor also crashed the O-boards hard and he gave the Patriots extra possessions.
Deng Deng Deng Deng 6'5" | SF Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2024 ND (2024) |6-4 G/F| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – He produced multiple AND-1 plays. I liked how he battled down low with bigger and older players. He runs extremely well and he can finish when playing fast. Deng is very tough to guard once he gets doing downhill. I was impressed with how the youngster shared the ball.
Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 G| Fargo Davies – He was smooth and efficient in the open court during fast breaks. He dropped a few impressive dimes that set teammates up for easy baskets. When attacking the basket he used double-moves to get by defenders. Ian also showed a good-looking step-back jumper. Motschenbacher’s most impressive action was his rocker-move, it left the defender in the dust. You can tell he is a gym rat, he has many tricks up his sleeve. On defense, he showed good hustle, and a hard-working blocked shot. Ian showed why he is one of the best guards in the EDC.
Jackson Pollert Jackson Pollert 6'2" | SF Fargo Shanley | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| Shanley – He was phenomenal in the first half vs. 4Winds. Jack cleaned up the glass on both ends of the floor. This big strong kid can shoot it from 3-range. Pollert is physically sound and muscular. Jackson had himself a great Friday morning playing hoops
Jacolby Pearson Jacolby Pearson 6'4" | SG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – He is an ultra-smooth left-handed guard. Pearson handled the ball a ton today. I was awe-inspired by his fake crossover and his hesitation moves. Jacolby has an excellent pull-up jumper. He shoots the 3-ball well from the corner. Pearson shook the defenders multiple times and he was able to get into the lane and make plays. He had a great team camp. Pearson was one of the most fun players to watch today.
Jaiden Peraza Jaiden Peraza 6'5" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 F| Kindred – He is a muscular and strong player. Peraza is a physical force. He can body-up on defense and he also plays tough help-side D. Jaiden is a consistent rebounder and effective finisher. Peraza, McQuillan, and Olson will be a scary 3-headed monster next season for the reigning Class-B State Champs.
Jayden Yankton Jayden Yankton 6'1" | SG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – He was was of the best shooters in the gym this morning. Jayden is a baller. His shot looks the same from right behind the arc or way out in NBA range. Jayden’s shot is feathery soft and smooth. He makes it look easy. Yankton has a great step-back move. Besides being a flamethrower from 3-point land, he can handle the rock and drop dimes. Jayden has great court vision.
Kaleb Larson Kaleb Larson 6'3" | SG West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-2 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – Every time I have seen him this spring/summer he shoots it well from beyond the arc. Kaleb has a very nice release on his shot. He seems to be very consistent. Larson excels at catching and shooting in rhythm. He does not need much room to hit his shot off. Kaleb will have an important role for Sheyenne next season as the 3-point assassin.
Max McQuillan Max McQuillan 6'5" | SG Kindred | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-5 G| Kindred – He shot is very well from 3-point land. Max looks to be the best threat for the Vikings from downtown. He looks longer and stronger since I saw him last in the high school season. Max is going to be a nice and consistent scoring punch for the Vikings.
Michael Nhial Michael Nhial 6'7" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2023) |6-7 G/F| West Fargo Sheyenne – He looked good shooting it from the 3-point wing. I love his shooting form and release. Mike’s long arms and excellent elevation allow him to shoot over defenders. He also showed off a sweet turnaround jumper from 15-feet. Every time that Nhial touches the ball he has the potential to make a highlight-type play. He is a special player.
Paul Olson Paul Olson 6'3" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 G| Kindred – His athleticism was on full display today with a powerful and eye-catching 2-handed slam dunk. He was also swatting shots. Olson spent some time at the free-throw line with a smooth stoke. His outside shot continues to improve. Paul will be a bucket machine next season in Class-B.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-10 G| Fargo Davies – Lightening quick is how I would describe Brown. He is capable of being a lock-down on-ball defender. His step-back move looked flawless today. Raymond excels at keeping defenders off-balance. He gets his jumper how quickly, but he does not hurry it.
Riley Sunram Riley Sunram 6'5" | PF Kindred | 2024 ND (2024) |6-4 F| Kindred – He is a BIG with a bright future. Riley looked good running the court. He has a long wingspan. Sunram looks to be a productive rebounder. He has the potential to be a stout defender on the block and a useful rim protector.
Soren Anderson (2023) |6-4 F| Perham – He dropped 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the game I took in. Soren was a “man-child” on the court today! He can do it all on both ends of the court. Anderson can score from all 3-levels. He rebounds well and gives great effort on the defensive end. The best part about his game is that he makes his teammates better.
Ryan Erikson Ryan Erikson 6'10" | C Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-8 F| Bismarck Century – I love his baby-hook shot. Ryan is great at pinning the defender low and sealing them deep. For such a big player his touch is amazingly soft. He also showcased an impressive turnaround jumper from the mid-post. The future looks bright for Erikson.
Timmy Guler (2024) |5-10 G| Pelican Rapids – I like the toughness he displayed. Guler gave great effort for the entire game. He is a gritty guard. Timmy has a solid-looking shot. He should be a tough player next season for the Vikings.
Tyler Kraft Tyler Kraft 6'2" | SG Shanley | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 G| Shanley – I like the fact that his shot always looks the same. He seems to be playing with great confidence. Tyler was knocking down 3-balls from beyond college rage. He is turning into a huge 3-point threat. Kraft also has a very nice pull-up jumper from 15-feet. He is another player that seems to always be improving. Tyler showed some soft-touch on his runners/floaters. I also liked the max-effort he was giving.
Vuciri Hakim Vuciri Hakim 6'4" | SF Shanley | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-4 F| Fargo Shanley – Much like last Friday, Hakim was impressive. He is a reliable and effective finisher in transition. He had a perfect baseline drive that showed off his athletic ability. His athleticism and polished skills helped him stand out.
William Ware William Ware 6'7" | SF Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-7 F| Bismarck Century – His ceiling is very high. Ware is extremely long and athletic. He has a long and explosive first step. I enjoyed watching how quickly he elevates to the rim. Ware was great on the O-boards. William had a masterful baseline drive in the first game of the day that left me intrigued. Very few 6’7″ players can catch on the perimeter, rip the ball through, and attack the cup. Ware is one of them.
Zander Newton Zander Newton 6'4" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – He was impressive on the offensive boards. It seems like Zander has extra-long arms. In his first game of the day he had a BIG-TIME impressive dunk that left spectators speechless. He is another player that looks better every time I see him play.
