Today, we feature the premiere quintet by position on our Mr. May 17u FIRST TEAM. Our state is loaded with great guards, but this team must resemble a team: Guard, Guard, Guard/Wing, Forward, Forward.

J.J. Wheat J.J. Wheat 6'0" | PG Clarksville | 2022 State TN might be a surprise First Team pick for statewide observers. Players more highly ranked like Evan Eursher Evan Eursher 6'2" | PG Webb-Bell Buckle | 2022 State #244 Nation TN and B.J. Edwards get more national shine, but Wheat was just as good as Evan and better than Edwards in that last month. His handle was exceptional. Wheat destroys legs and overpowers hungry shot blockers, even much taller and bigger players. College scouts are very new or still ignorant to Wheat’s game. It is not like Wheat came out of nowhere. After his sophomore year he was named District MVP. His junior season ended in a Class AAA State Tournament appearance.

D1 offers keep coming for the elite guard. Chandler continuously dominated in May and justifiably added more offers as a result. Texas and Florida State are the offers earned during May. He is now up to 15 active offers. Physically strong. Great court vision. Ability to score or involve teammates. Not selfish despite the ability to be the go-to scorer.
“In a two-minute span, Jackson scored six of his eight points off face-up elbow jumpers. Thad’s opponent couldn’t keep Jackson out of the paint as he was finding a rhythm early on.” – Courtney Smith

Add Chattanooga to the list of colleges eager to get Evan on their campus. He will get a tour from the Chattanooga staff next weekend. On the court, Eursher did what Evan Eursher Evan Eursher 6'2" | PG Webb-Bell Buckle | 2022 State #244 Nation TN do…he made tough baskets, hit open three-pointers and established a home away from home at the free throw line. The senior for the Webb Feet is a consummate scorer and high character player.

Nebraska will host Malik for an official this month. What a fantastic “get” for Nebraska as Malik is a player on the rise regionally. In our latest Class of 2022 rankings, Dia climbed from ###*#(#((#(# largely because of his junior season. “He is our leading returning scorer and rebounder from last year,” shared Ensworth Head Coach Maurice Hopkins. “He has come a long way from where he was as a freshman in all areas. I think he is primed to have a really good senior year for us.”

Unequivocally the best big in the state, Felix boasts the most post potential since James Wiseman (2019). Okpara is all of 6-foot-11. In May he solidified his post greatness, reiterating his dominance. No player nationwide guards the tin with more consistency.
