The Mid-Atlantic Independent School Team Camp at Blair was filled with college coaches and the players did not disappoint. Here are some of the top standouts from the opening day of the Mid-Atlantic Independent School Team Camp.
Scotty Middleton, 6’7 SF Patrick School 2023
Middleton’s stock has been on the rise since the spring and it only went up after his performance yesterday. The 6’7 wing was aggressive in the opening game against Perkiomen, showing off a good touch on his mid-range jumper. Middleton knocked down several three-pointers throughout both games, as he has a nice release on his jump shot. He moved his feet well on the defensive end and skied for rebounds on the defensive end. Middleton’s ability to play at both ends of the floor is something that will intrigue coaches this summer and throughout his high school career.
Dominick Barlow, 6’9 SF/PF St. Benedict’s 2022
Barlow is running with the Grey Bees during the live period and he did not disappoint yesterday. The 6’9 combo forward attacked the glass on both ends of the floor, punctuating a statement win with an impressive put-back ham. Barlow looked comfortable playing on the perimeter as he knocked down jumpers and moved well without the ball. He defended the paint nicely as he swatted several shots around the rim and held his own against Westtown’s Derek Lively. Barlow is a skilled forward prospect, whose stock is about to explode.
Landon Moore, 6’2 CG Western Reserve Academy 2022
Moore was a facilitator all game for Western Reserve Academy as he had their offense humming. The 6’2 guard played with poise with the ball in his hands and did not force the issue in the halfcourt. Moore made several good passes throughout the night, finding open teammates for easy baskets. He was able to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the rim. Moore’s ability to control the game on offense is vital as he looks to elevate his stock during the live period.
Justyn Fernandez, 6’5 SF Virginia Episcopal Academy 2022
Fernandez had a strong showing against the Patrick School as he brought it on both ends of the floor. The 6’5 wing shot the ball with confidence from deep as he drilled several triples, including ones that were heavily contested. Fernandez also attacked the basket with a purpose as he threw down a couple of dunks during the game. He played good on-ball defense and rarely took a play off throughout the game. Fernandez’s energy is something that is hard to duplicate, which should serve him well during the live period.
Sam Pohlman, 6’2 PG Perkiomen 2022
Pohlman was a true floor general for Perkiomen on day 1 as he controlled the flow of the game. The 6’2 guard plays with good floor vision as he is always looking to find the open teammate. Pohlman is a good passer as he was able to thread the needle on more than one occasion during the course of the night. He has a nice handle, which he used to get by his defender and make plays in the lane. Pohlman’s composure on the ball is something that will help his game as the summer progresses.
