Several organizations hosted events around the city, including West Coast Elite’s, Vegas Memorial Day Classic, and Cal Elite Basketball’s West Coast Smoke. The event featured several terrific floor generals. In this article, a follow-up to Top Floor Generals Part 1, we take a look at some of the top PGs from the event.
Nathan Ojukwu 6’6 DIB 2023 – Ojukwu is the definition of a big guard. The 6’6 PG wasn’t fast or flashy but had a knack for making the simple play. He was the only player I saw during the weekend, that understood how to make a post entry pass. He showed good vision and was shifty enough to get into the lane. Once he got his paint touch, Ojukwu showed good athleticism and the ability to finish above the rim.
John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT 5’11 Vegas Elite 2024 (#5PHN 2024) (featured image) – Mobley was must-watch basketball. The crafty guard kept defenders on skates all weekend. He showed in the gym range, making several long threes. While his shooting and wiggle will probably gain the most attention, I thought it was his ability to be equally effective with both hands either on the dribble or when finishing around the rim, that was his most impressive skill.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#2PHN 2022) – I love watching Jackson play. Pound for pound he may be the best rebounding guard in the country. He’s not overwhelming athletic, but he has long arms and is tenacious when attacking the glass. Offensively his handle remains tight, and he showed that he can beat anyone off the bounce. Jackson has become accustomed to seeing double and triple teams this grassroots season.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’1 Chosen Few 2024 (#8PHN 2024) – Adem played more of a facilitating role this weekend. I didn’t think he shot the ball that well, however, he showed that he can impact a game in other ways besides shooting. He set up teammates with pinpoint passes, broke down defenders, and handled the ball well against late-game pressure. Behind his leadership, Chosen Few took home another Championship-winning the 16U Platinum Bracket.
Armari Carraway Armari Carraway 6'0" | PG San Joaquin Memorial | 2023 CA-N 6’0 RHJ 2023 (#13PHA 2023) – Carraway played with great pace this weekend. The PG was a bucket, using his speed and blow-by ability to put pressure on defenders. He scored in transition, and was a mid-range specialist, knocking in several pull-up jumpers.
