While we weren’t able to attend in person, we will be checking out a majority of the 16U and 17U teams over the next few weeks via Baller TV. Below is a look at the 16U Play4Him Academy White team. We watched their game against Beyond Ball 24K.
Will Orness (Humboldt)
A 5-10 scoring guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, Orness led P4H with 22 points, showing he can score from all three levels. He moves well off the ball, using off-ball screens to create space, and he has a quick release on his jumper off the catch.
Brody Poppen (Manson Northwest Webster)
Poppen is a 6-4, physical interior presence on both ends of the floor. He sets good, hard screens and rolls to the paint. He showed good hands, and he rebounds fairly well on both ends of the floor. I’d like to see him become more assertive on both ends of the floor because it looks like there is some talent here.
Jacob Hargens Jacob Hargens 6'2" | PG Sioux Central | 2023 State IA (Sioux Central)
A 6-1 wing with a good frame, Hargens might be the best prospect on this team. He’s active on the glass on both ends of the floor and does a good job playing with pace. He changes his speeds well and uses that change of pace and direction to get by defenders. He thrives playing downhill and getting to the bucket, and he’s a quality playmaker who can finish or dish when he gets to the paint.
