While we weren’t able to attend in person, we will be checking out a majority of the 16U and 17U teams over the next few weeks via BallerTV. Below is a look at the 16U Beyond Ball 24K team. We watched their game against Play4Him Academy White.
Riley Edwards Riley Edwards 6'3" | SG Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA (Southeast Polk)
A confident 6-3 wing who can really shoot the ball, Edwards moves well off the ball, utilizing off-ball screens to find spaces in the defense to get his shot off. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket, but his biggest attribute at this point is his shooting ability. He showed that he can shoot it at a high level off the dribble or the catch.
Brayden Dinkla Brayden Dinkla 6'0" | PG Winterset | 2023 State IA (Winterset)
A small but solid lead guard, Dinkla makes an impact with his quickness on both ends of the floor. He moves his feet well and has quick hands on defense, and offensively he can get to the rim and finish with either hand effectively, and he’ll only get better as a finisher as he continues to mature physically. Like his teammate Drea, he plays effectively in the pick-and-roll game, with the ability to distribute or score.
Karson Wehde (Ankeny)
The 6-3 combo forward showed a really smooth jumper with range out beyond the high school line. He has great form on his shot, keeping his elbow tight with a nice, high release. He runs the floor hard and finishes in transition, and rebounds well on both ends of the floor.
Skyler Yazzie (Van Meter)
Yazzie was a pleasant surprise, a versatile 6-4 forward who showed the ability to stretch the floor or get to the bucket. He provided the highlight of the game when he caught in the left corner, gave a quick pump fake to get the defender in the air, and drove baseline for a powerful dunk. He rebounds well on both ends and can defend multiple positions.
Drew Kingery Drew Kingery 6'4" | SF Indianola | 2023 State IA (Indianola)
Kingery is one of the top prospects in Iowa’s 2023 class, and he showed why throughout this game. He’s an effortless scorer with great length who can fill it up from all three levels. He’s really improved as a ball-handler, opening up his playmaking abilities for his teammates and his ability to get to the rim, and he has a pure, smooth stroke from the perimeter. He moves well off the ball and has a high IQ. His length allows him to have some defensive versatility as well.
Luke Keitges Luke Keitges 6'5" | SF Knoxville | 2023 State IA (Knoxville)
A physical 6-4 combo forward with the ability to score inside and out, Keitges has a pure perimeter stroke and is a high-level rebounder on both ends of the floor. He provides versatility on both ends with his ability to score inside and out, and his physicality plays well on the defensive end, as he can bang in the paint against bigger players, or step out and move his feet on the perimeter.
Brayden Drea Brayden Drea 5'10" | PG Indianola | 2023 State IA (Ankeny)
A creative lead guard with the ability to fill it up from all three levels or dish out 10 assists in any given game, Drea is a good ball-handler with excellent court vision and plenty of creativity in his passing. He makes good, crisp passes into his teammate’s shooting pockets, and he’s excellent in the pick-and-roll game, with the ability to turn the corner and get to the rim, pop behind the screen, and knock down a jumper, or slip nice pocket passes to the roll man.
