Here’s a look at the top overall performers for the event. These are only the players I saw in person, if a player had a great game and I missed it, sorry.
2022s
Friday night featured a great game in a hot auxiliary gym as Fern Creek beat Frederick Douglass by 2. Darien Lewis Darien Lewis 6'1" | PG Fern Creek | 2022 State KY was outstanding for Creek as he scored 31 points and had the game winning bucket.
Aden Slone Aden Slone 5'9" | PG George Rogers Clark | 2022 State KY put on a show all weekend with his ball handling and passing. Slone is the engine that makes GRC go and showed improved scoring with an advanced floater and the ability to play off of 2 feet in the paint.
Bath County’s Tyler Buckhanon Tyler Buckhanon 6'8" | PF Bath County | 2022 State KY is a transfer from the Maryland/D.C. area and passes the eye test as a big and athletic forward prospect. He’s raw in the skill department but seems to have a good motor.
Recent Bryan Station import Bless Kamuena Bless Kamuena 6'5" | SF Bryan Station | 2022 State KY had a strong weekend. Bless can play on or off the ball and has good length and athleticism.
New GRC guard Tanner Walton Tanner Walton 6'3" | CG Lexington Christian | 2022 State KY was solid all weekend and excelled in the championship game where Madison Central struggled to guard him.
2023s
Recently moved to 2023 thanks to Senate Bill 128, Tyson Barrett Tyson Barrett 6'8" | PF Frederick Douglass | 2023 FL from Douglass had a strong showing on Friday night before missing the rest of the weekend. He had one dunk off a missed free throw where his head was above the rim.
Another player who just moved to 2023 was Breathitt County’s Christian Collins Christian Collins 6'8" | PF Breathitt County | 2023 State KY . A player I’d never heard of before this weekend, Collins passes the eye test at 6’8 and is extremely athletic.
Keeping our theme going, newly minted 2023 Trent Edwards Trent Edwards 6'8" | PF George Rogers Clark | 2023 State KY spent much of his weekend dunking in transition and off of lobs. He can lead the break when needed but is better as a rim runner.
Jerone Morton Jerone Morton 6'3" | SG George Rogers Clark | 2023 State KY is another player who is now a 2023. Previously a top 5 in our 2022 rankings, Morton was the MVP of the event and scored the ball all over the court for the entire weekend.
Yet another 2023 reclass, Hagan Harrison Hagan Harrison 6'1" | CG Madison Central | 2023 KY played well all weekend and will likely lead the Indians in scoring this upcoming season. He shot the ball well and made multiple 3s in every game I watched.
A true 2023, Jaden Biggers Jaden Biggers 6'6" | PF Bryan Station | 2023 State KY of Bryan Station was good for the Defenders this weekend. Jaden is a polished low post scorer but sometimes floats around the perimeter too much on offense.

Hudson Sparks Hudson Sparks 6'5" | SF Lexington Catholic | 2023 State KY of Lexington Catholic made a bunch of 3s in the games I saw and had multiple 20+ point games.

Another contributor for GRC, Sam Parrish Sam Parrish 6'0" | PG George Rogers Clark | 2023 State KY was good in stretches for the Cards. A great athlete, Parrish looks comfortable with the loaded GRC roster.
Madison Central’s Jaylen Davis Jaylen Davis 6'5" | SF Madison Central | 2023 State KY was one of the best players all weekend long. Always known as a shooter, he’s improved as a slasher in the last year or so.
PRP had a good weekend before falling to GRC in the semifinals. Zee McCown Zee McCown 5'10" | PG Pleasure Ridge Park | 2023 State PA paced the Panthers all weekend and continues to show he’s a top guard in 2023.
