Continue ReadingThe IBCA Top 100 Showcase was this past weekend and this was the first time D1 coaches we allowed to come out and see our prospects this year. The best players in the state were on display here and a few of them were able to snag some offers here due to their great showing. Today, we a look a look at and evaluate the players that made up Team Purple from session two.
JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN – 6’8 PF 2023 Bloomington North: Roberts is an athletic power forward that is slowly starting to become a high end recruit. Had a real good showing here and was showing off how mature his game has gotten. Is scoring at all three levels but is still his dominate self in the paint. Crashed the glass hard and gave his team a bunch of second chance points and even had a few impressive slams. Offers should be coming in for Roberts very soon.
Elijah Mattingly Elijah Mattingly 6'6" | SF Central Christian Academy | 2022 State IN – 6’6 SF 2022 Central Christian Academy: Mattingly is a taller wing that is very versatile. Played pretty much all over the court and was doing all the little things for his team. He showed his athleticism by slamming one and was real tough on the defensive end. Overall he just showed that he has a real balanced game and is a guy that can bring options to a team.
Ian Raasch – 6’5 SF 2023 Northwood: Raasch is a taller wing that has a real nice jumper. Came into this as probably the lesser known prospect on his team but found ways to stand out, especially on the offensive end. Showed off a smooth looking jumper on the baseline and around the 15ft line. Not a whole lot of mistakes were made on his end and as he was pretty reliable with the ball in his hands.
A.J. Lux A.J. Lux 6'3" | SG Crown Point | 2023 State IN – 6’4 PG 2023 Crown Point: Lux is a taller guard that just has that natural feel for the game. Did not have the most electric showing on offense from what we usually see from him but he was able to knock down a few outside jumpers. Was real impressed with his defensive performance and honestly think that is his most underrated skill. Lux is a player that is going to get better and better and I think he has a real shot at playing at that DI level.
Richard Brooks Richard Brooks 6'3" | SF Mishawaka Marian | 2022 State IN – 6’3 SF 2022 Mishawaka Marian: Brooks is a smaller wing that plays aggressive and can shoot the ball. Had a couple of threes off the catch and has a quick release on his shot. Played real tough defense and used his strong hands to steal the ball a few times. Creative player that is probably at that DII level.
Willie Miller Willie Miller 6'2" | PG Lake Station | 2023 State IN – 6’2 SG 2022 Lake Station: Miller is a shooting guard that has some skill to his game. Best play I saw from him was a steal he had and then lead to him giving out a real smooth bounce pass for a fastbreak layup. Drove the ball very well and finished strongly and even had an And1. Solid showing from Miller here.
Jaylen Mullen Jaylen Mullen 6'0" | PG North Daviess | 2023 State IN – 6’0 PG 2023 North Daviess: Mullen is a shorter lead guard that is so, so tough. His outside jumper was on point here and nailed every type of 3 you could think of including a 3 off the catch, pullup, and a step back. It just seemed like every time I would look over to the court he was on, he was making some sort of play. His high motor and toughness help him stand out.
Logan McIntire Logan McIntire 6'4" | SG North Harrison | 2022 State IN – 6’4 SG 2022 North Harrison: McIntire is a taller shooting guard that can really light it up. Was pretty stellar from behind the arc, especially off the catch. Was real aggressive on the boards and gave his team quite a bit of second chance points. Can score at all three levels and with his high IQ, he can be a threat on the offensive end.
Branden Northern Branden Northern 5'11" | PG Silver Creek | 2022 State IN – 6’0 PG 2022 Silver Creek: Northern is a shorter lead guard that is really breaking out here. Such a tough lead guard and sees the floor very well. Notched how strong his build is and that he can use his strength to score at the rim. Defensively, I thought he was one of the better perimeter defenders on the day. His stock is continuing to rise.
Gabe Trevino Gabe Trevino 5'10" | PG Eastside | 2022 IN – 5’11 PG 2022 Eastside: Trevino is a shorter, true lead guard. Did not score all that much as he looked to get his teammates involved and find the open man. Thought he was real tough on the defensive end and was not afraid to go at the bigger guards on that end. He would work hard off the ball to get a look but looked more comfortable with the ball in his hands.
