Continue ReadingThe IBCA Top 100 Showcase was this past weekend and this was the first time D1 coaches we allowed to come out and see our prospects this year. The best players in the state were on display here and a few of them were able to snag some offers here due to their great showing. Today, we a look a look at and evaluate the players that made up Team Orange from session one.
Jalen Hooks Jalen Hooks 6'6" | SF Warren Central | 2023 State #282 Nation IN – 6’7 SF 2023 Crispus Attucks: Hooks is a long wing that is obviously a highly touted recruit. There was not really anything that really popped out that we had not already seen from Hooks before. Scored at all three levels and was patient and smart with his attacks. Pretty much every D1 coach that was there was looking at him so now it is really just a wait and see what he is going to do next as he has a few unofficial visits scheduled soon.
Joe Reidy Joe Reidy 6'7" | SF Woodlan | 2022 State IN – 6’7 SF/PF 2022 Woodlan: Reidy is a strong forward that seems to always find ways to score. Super aggressive player that can provide a lot of different options on both ends of the floor. Rebounds very well and was real impressed his first step on the drive and the amount of power and explosiveness he would use during that process. Could make a case that Reidy had one of the better showings out of anybody there over the weekend.
Joey Hart Joey Hart 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State #214 Nation IN – 6’5 SG 2023 Linton-Stockton: Hart is a taller shooting guard that plays in a very composed style. Was a little quiet at times but also made a few big plays here and there. Nailed 2 back-to-back 3s off the catch then one play had a huge slam through traffic and had a real pretty reverse layup as well. Just recently got an offer from Northwestern and would not have been shocked if a few other coaches that were there reached out already. One thing to always take away from Hart is that this guy can always bring shooting to a team.
Larry Pierce Larry Pierce 6'5" | SF University | 2022 State IN – 6’4 SF 2022 University: Pierce is a long and lanky forward that knows how to use his length on both ends. Got through contact pretty well on the offensive end and played some real solid defense and showed that he could guard a couple of different spots on the floor. Jumper still seems to look a little inconsistent at times but he can still hit those. Think he can really get to that DII range with more work.
Owen Duff – 6’2 PG/SG 2023 Carroll (Flora): Duff is a taller combo guard with toughness. Pretty well balanced for the most the part and can do just a little bit of everything. Scores pretty well from the pullup 15fter. Right now he is utilizing his ability to play on and off the ball but I would expect him to stay more on the ball at the next level. Solid day for Duff here.
Jaxon Edwards Jaxon Edwards 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2022 State IN – 6’6 SF 2022 Cathedral: Edwards is a long, athletic wing that was arguably the most talked about player on the day. He was all over the floor on both ends making play after play it seemed like. Jumper was on point and he was real creative with his scoring. Got offers from Northern Illinois University and Miami of Ohio University right after the event. This was the type of performance Edwards needed in order to prove that he is a DI guy.
Caleb Dewey Caleb Dewey 6'3" | SF Edinburgh | 2023 State IN – 6’3 SF 2023 Edinburgh: Dewey is a tough wing with a good amount of size. Real quick and defensive minded it seems like. Had a huge block and got some major elevation on it. He was ok offensively when I watched him but looked to be more comfortable on the defensive end getting stops.
Keyon Garrett-Miller Keyon Garrett-Miller 6'1" | PG Southport | 2023 State IN – 6’0 PG 2023 Southport: Miller is a shorter yet very quick lead guard. Has some flashiness in him and distributes the ball very well from all over. Very quick moving side-to-side and can get the defender off balance when he heads to the rim. Shorter size was not really a factor as he used his speed to his advantage most of the time.
Jackson Ullom Jackson Ullom 5'11" | PG Monroe Central | 2022 State IN – 5’10 PG 2022 Monroe Central: Ullom is a shorter lead guard that really battled here. Brought his toughness out on both ends like I thought he would and just was finding ways to contribute. Stole the ball a couple of times on defense and utilized his consistent floater on the offensive side. Outside jumper still needs some work, however, as it just does not look consistent enough. One thing about Ullom is for sure, the guy is always going to play hard when he is on the floor.
