The best players in the state were in action for the loaded event and here are some of the takeaways from the first session for Team Green.
Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2022 State IN (Warren Central/2022)
Jackson is your ideal wing. He has good size at 6-foot-6 and length that makes him extremely versatile on both ends of the floor. He is a very smooth athlete who can score at all three levels and does so without forcing much. Jackson’s motor and high energy is always impactful as he rarely takes a play off. He’s a solid rebounder on both ends of the floor too.
Chad Cox Chad Cox 6'4" | SF Franklin County | 2022 State IN (Franklin County/2022)
Cox is another player who has good size on the perimeter. He won’t blow you away with quickness, but his overall frame is built to play through contact on both ends of the floor. He is best attacking the basket and in the mid range and using his build to find his spots. His shot is effective, but still needs to be more consistent from deep.
Ben Henderson Ben Henderson 6'3" | SG Harrison | 2023 State IN (Harrison/2023)
Henderson has a good frame and size in the backcourt and continues to get stronger. He is a very well-rounded player who can do it all. He can play both on and off of the ball and does a tremendous job moving and finding space on the floor. He has good vision to be used as a playmaker and is smart with his decision making off of the pick and roll.
Tyler Dostin (Danville/2022)
Dostin is someone who has a really strong frame that translates from football. He has a great motor and uses his energy and hustle to make up for a still developing skillset. He plays more of a hybrid forward position who can see time on both the perimeter and in the paint, with most of his points coming at or near the rim. Strong rebounder overall.
Braeden Shrewsberry (West Lafayette/2023)
Shrewsberry has good length and size for a lead guard and that helps him offensively to make up for a lankier frame. His best asset is shooting and he can step out from near NBA range already. He can get shot happy at times, but he has earned that right due to his high volume of makes. He can create off of the dribble or be effective in catch and shoot opportunities. He is a solid creator off of pick and rolls as well, although he tends to try and beat his defender one-on-one more often.
Jonah Lucas Jonah Lucas 6'0" | PG Lafayette Harrison | 2022 State IN (Harrison/2022)
Lucas is a tweaner guard and wing who has decent length and frame. He isn’t going to blow you away with his athleticism and also not with his speed or a flashy skillset, however. What he is, is consistent and someone who knows his game. The lefty guard can get into the paint and utilizes a very strong mid range game where he can turn over either shoulder for a little fadeaway jumper. He’s a very tough guard who you want on your team because he will make winning plays every night.
Jesse Faires Jesse Faires 6'6" | PF Ben Davis | 2023 State IN (Ben Davis/2023)
Faires is very wing oriented. He isn’t super big, but does have good length and an ability to play bigger than he is. He also has underrated athleticism because it’s not something you’ll see right away. He can play both forward positions, being effective with both perimeter skills and post up ability. He showed the ability to hit a few face up jumpers on the wing and also take his defender off of the dribble. He plays smart and knows how to impact the game in many ways.
Charlie Williams Charlie Williams 6'10" | PF Carmel | 2022 State #220 Nation IN (Carmel/2022)
Williams brings great length to the floor and utilizes it in many ways. He isn’t very built out yet but also knows how to make up for a lack of overall frame on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can step out and hit 3’s with a good and high release. His low post moves are very good, too. He can turn over either shoulder and finish at the rim. Defensively, he disrupts shots with his length, even though he may not always put up high numbers in the blocks category.
Isaac Andrews Isaac Andrews 6'1" | SG Wapahani | 2024 State IN (Wapahani/2024)
Andrews is a shorter lead guard but you would never know it by how tough he is on the court. He isn’t super long, but his toughness sticks out as he is always in the middle of the action. He has solid shooting ability and has a solid mid range game. Andrews is best at distributing the ball to his teammates with really good vision.
Chrishon McCray Chrishon McCray 5'10" | PG Avon | 2022 State IN (Avon/2022)
McCray is slightly undersized as a point guard but he makes up for it with his quickness and length. He has a relatively good handle but can sometimes get caught too deep on his penetration. He is a pass-first guard who loves to get his teammates open but still has the ability to finish at the rim around defenders. In transition, he is at his best and can utilize his speed and passing to his advantage.
