There were plenty of the state’s more established players on hand, but today’s write up will feature some new faces of players who made a positive impact on Saturday.
Iziah Purvey 6’3 Webster Groves: An undersized 2024 forward who was a matchup problem with his big body and skill set. His guile and craftiness kept people off balance so he could get buckets in the paint. He has solid handles and can drive or make a perimeter shot.
Nassir Binion 6’3 CBC: A very bouncy 2024 wing who was very impressive with his ability to make plays and impact the game without commanding the ball, which is big for a young player. He was blocking shots and creating steals with his activity. He handles the ball and slashes well to the basket. An excellent all purpose player.
Terron Garrett 6’2 Hazelwood Central: An incoming 2025 point guard who displayed the poise and talent of an upperclassmen. He has the size and a good feel for the game along with a nice 3-point stroke. He has a very bright future.
Creighton Wise 6’0 Kirkwood: An impressive 2024 guard with a good motor and a good sense of being in the correct position at all times. He’s always around the ball and making plays, whether it’s steals, rebounds or blocks. He’s an excellent finisher when he’s slashing in the lane.
Cameron Ivie 5’10 Cardinal Ritter: A 2024 point guard with good quickness and the ability to disrupt on the defensive end. His on-ball defense was good and he was constantly getting deflections. He was good on the dribble penetration and he can make a shot.
