I saw games from players in 6 different states throughout the weekend, so in the first article of my new series, we look at the 2024 standout guards from the state of Indiana for the Grit Region Memorial Classic in Columbus. We also include a couple of 2025 and 2026 guards that are playing on the 2024 Circuit. Let’s get started.
Phillip Harris – 6’0″ SG – Tipping Point (Penn)
Harris is a smaller wing who is a scrappy, young player. He is aggressive on the glass and isn’t going to ever shy away from putting his body on someone. He also is not afraid to dive on the floor for a loose ball. Harris knocked down a couple of mid-range jumpers and a triple as well to show that he can do it on the offensive end. He isn’t going to be a highlight player by any means, but he does what it takes to get the job done for his team.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN – 6’2″ SG – INB Platinum (Avon)
Lomax is a guard who can score the ball in every possible way. He has a smooth shooting stroke and will never hesitate to let it fly. He also showed off a nice little floater in the lane to avoid the shot blockers. With his nice ball-handling and court vision, he is able to make plays for both he and his teammates. Overall, Lomax did it all for INB Platinum with 25 points in their loss. He should be watched carefully as his game continues to develop.
Owen Roeder – 6’0″ SG – Tipping Point (Northwood)
Roeder is another shooting guard with a good-looking 3 point stroke for this Tipping Point team. In addition to his shooting, he sees the floor well and knows when to make cuts. He also was able to finish through contact pretty well.
Ethan Roseman (2026) – 5’8″ PG – Indiana 465 Select 2025 (St. Lawrence Middle School)
Roseman is a 2026 guard who may have been the best mid-range shooter that I saw all weekend. Ethan can stop on a dime and knock down the shot. He loves to stop and pop, and he has a very quick release on his shot. He was outstanding on the entire weekend, and he ended his Saturday with a 25 point performance. Roseman is going to be a must-watch player in the future for sure, and as a seventh-grader, he still has so much room to grow.
Cole Shively – 6’1″ SG – Tipping Point (Triton)
Shively is a solid lead guard who can pretty much do a little bit of everything. He always goes strong to the hole, he can finish with touch around the rim, and he showed a nice little step-back jumper. Cole also sees the court very well, but he often tries to make too good of a pass rather than waiting on the easy one. He got sped up a lot by the pressure defense in this one, and it causes a couple of costly turnovers. Cole has the ability, so if he can just slow down the game and play with control, he will have success in the coming years.
Keegin Stats – 6’0″ PG – Tipping Point (Northwood)
Stats is a smaller point guard with great ball-handling ability and who always makes the right passes. He did struggle shooting the ball in this one, but he looks to have all of the mechanics to shoot the ball well. They just weren’t falling for him. One thing about Stats was that he did get sped up by the defense a lot. It was a quick defense with a lot of length, so it makes sense, but Keegin ended up being forced into a lot of one-man basketball. If he, like his teammate, Cole, can slow the game down, he has the ability to make a lot of plays.
Kaleb Tate – 6’0″ PG – INB Platinum (Lawrence North)
Tate is a point guard who can pretty much do a little bit of everything. He is incredibly smooth with the ball in his hands. He has good moves on the inside to finish around the rim. He can also pull up for a quick floater and knock it down from the outside. Kaleb is a solid little player who will continue to develop his skills.
Omari Thomas (2026) – 5’4″ PG – Indiana 465 Select 2025 (Middle School)
Thomas is a smaller 2026 guard who played very well considering he is only a seventh-grader. He is a floor general who can see the court well and make the passes that he needs to. He also showed off a nice little floater in the lane that allows him to score without going amongst the rim protectors. Thomas will continue to grow, of course, and he should be a very impressive player once he reaches high school.
Caleb Wright (2025) – 6’0″ SG – Indiana 465 Select 2025 (Sheridan)
Wright is a 2025 shooting guard who was lights out shooting the ball for Indiana 465 this weekend. He has a great-looking shot and was absolutely money on the catch and shoot. He did drive a couple of times, but the best part of his game is no doubt his shooting as he shot 40% on the weekend. Look for him to continue to develop as a player as he enters high school next year.
